Specific accountabilities

You will be responsible for all aspects related to financial and management accounting for designated Ivanhoé Cambridge businesses and real estate investments, including accounting for capital transactions and reviewing the legal documentation related thereto. You will also play a supporting role for the JDE accounting system. In carrying out your duties, you will have to obtain the collaboration of external stakeholders,   as instructed by your supervisor.  You will work closely with the Senior Advisors, Corporate Accounting and with the Tax and Legal Affairs teams  .

  • Ensure the proper accounting of designated real estate investments, in terms of market value and IFRSs, to facilitate the subsequent preparation of financial statements for the Ivanhoé Cambridge Group and its subsidiaries;
  • Prepare supporting documents for transactions with the Company's shareholders;
  • Prepare statutory financial statements (legal, tax-related, banking and statistical reports) for corporations within specifieddeadlines;
  • Coordinate requests for electronic transfers and ensure they are processed by Accounts Payable;
  • Review records of contributions and distributions in compliance with complex ownership structures and the J.D. Edwards module, including cut-off entries;
  • Prepare solvency tests for distributions and review necessary legal documentation for contributions and distributions;
  • Validate companies' investments/equities to ensure the Company's financial statements;
  • Review the monthly banking reconciliations prepared by Accounts Payable;
  • Assist in maintaining JDE's organizational structure and charter of accounts (creation of companies, accounts, cost centers etc.);
  • Help prepare the Company's audited financial statements and contribute to the annual audit process;
  • Take part in special projects as assigned;
  • Ensure the implementation of established internal controls.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Five to seven years of related experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA designation;
  • Sound knowledge of the accounting aspects of consolidation and currency conversion;
  • Knowledge of Canadian and international accounting standards;
  • Excellent analytical and processing skills;
  • Prioritization and multitasking skills; ability to work independently and perform under pressure;
  • Talent for communication, teamwork and collaboration;
  • Confidently innovative, creative and comfortable challenging the status quo;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including in-depth knowledge of Excel; familiarity with JD Edwards, an asset;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English.
