Specific accountabilities

Reporting to the Senior Director, Treasury Reporting , the incumbent is responsible for assessing, modelling and managing financial risks (interest rate, FX and credit). He or she is also in charge of modelling and assessing financial instruments, tracking KPIs for balance sheet management and proposing corrective measures as necessary.

Managing and monitoring financial risk

  • Recommend financial risk management strategies related to managing balance sheets and deploying and optimizing capital;
  • Optimize the Company's liquidity management, in conjunction with the Treasury Management team;
  • Work with the Capital Markets group to set up and negotiate corporate financing agreements and other master agreements (ISDA/CSA);
  • Contribute to updating the Company's business plan by modelling financial risks and forecasting balance sheet items;
  • Monitor the balance sheet and cash plan to anticipate liquidity needs, forecast KPIs and plan/propose financial risk management transactions;
  • Help gather intelligence on real estate and corporate credit market conditions that might impact assessment models and company performance;
  • Act as the contact person for business units and partners on issues related to financial risk management;
  • Provide expert insight and develop guidelines with regard to financial risk management policies;
  • Sit on certain internal committees for managing currency and interest rate risk.

Planning and executing transactions related to financial risk management

  • Oversee the planning and execution of FX and interest rate derivatives transactions used by the Company in managing risk; manage draws on the Company's various credit facilities;
  • Oversee financing transactions involving the Company's credit facilities;
  • Monitor exposure to various financial counterparties;
  • Monitor and update exposure levels and make corrections as needed;
  • Keep tabs on economic events that might affect the management of financial risks;
  • Provide support for the financial modelling of the impacts of exchange rates on international investment projects.

Assessing and monitoring the performance of the debt, loan and currency hedge portfolio

  • Supervise the modelling and updates of financial instrument valuation parameters;
  • Generate regular reports (daily, monthly, quarterly) on financial risk management and financial instrument performance;
  • Update the various financial instrument valuation guidelines;
  • Create and update the Company's performance measurement models (interest rate, FX);
  • Establish and regularly update various benchmarking metrics to assess the Company's financial risk management strategies and use of leverage;
  • Act as the point person for the debt/FX component of the Company's benchmark index;
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of various treasury systems during updates or migrations.


  • Propose ways to optimize designated operations, particularly by automating transactional and operational analyses and processes;
  • Update documentation on internal controls;
  • Contribute to and oversee the development of relevant treasury systems and dashboards;
  • Guide and supervise a three-person team.

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance;
  • CPA or CFA designation;
  • Six to nine years of relevant experience in a corporate environment;
  • Experience in a multi-currency environment with complex legal structures, an asset;
  • In-depth knowledge of valuation models and market conventions, foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives, and valuation models for unlisted debt securities;
  • Experience in foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives trading;
  • Familiarity with the system for managing and assessing financial instrument transactions (FinlogiK);
  • Talent for working in a computerized environment;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power BI, Power Query and Bloomberg;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to adapt to change and willingness to learn;
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and self-motivated;
  • Ability to work in a team and meet tight deadlines;
  • Multitasking skills.
