We are currently seeking a Senior Wealth Advisor to join our team.

The Senior Wealth Advisor provides professional and comprehensive financial planning advice to a portfolio of high value members. The Senior Wealth Advisor completes a review of the member’s investment portfolio and provides recommendations to members that meet the members life cycle needs. This role will proactively seek business development opportunities with current and potential members for wealth management and credit union subsidiary products and services.

Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day:


1. Business Development: Establishes and maintains relationships with existing members, within portfolio; networks with external business organizations in the community to generate referrals; pursues relationships with potential new members and actively promotes the full range of First West products and services through participation in community initiatives and events.


2. Sales and Service Strategy: Provides complex financial planning advice on a wide range of investment products and services to high value current and potential members, utilizing financial planning tools provided; identifies needs based on member life cycle and provides appropriate investment vehicles or refers to product specialist within other FW lines of business; seeks opportunities to assist members in consolidating their financial assets with First West; conducts follow-up interviews with members on their portfolio on an annual basis to identify changes in circumstances that would require alternate investment option.


3. Risk Management: Provides advice and acts in accordance with ethical standards, Aviso policies and applicable regulatory requirements ensuring that risk to the member and First West are minimized; maintains compliance with First West audit and risk management policies and procedures.


4. Leadership: Builds relationship with branch employees and provides subject matter expertise and/or mentoring when required; schedules and facilitates product knowledge sessions with members and/or branch employees. Provides leadership and coaching to administrative employees to help drive a consistent member experience and enhance revenue.


5. Member Transactions: Ensures member accounts are opened and transactions/purchases completed accurately and within required timeframes; maintains up to date member files with all required documentation.


Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications


College, Trade or Tech School Diploma (2 years) in a related discipline required

Other Certifications, Designations or Licenses: IIROC Registered Representative licensing, Completion of Canadian Securities Course, CPH & Wealth Management Essentials, Financial planning designation: CFP, PFP, CFA or industry equivalent designation in good standing required

Minimum 5 years in an investment/financial planning and advisory position managing a portfolio of high net worth individuals on an MFDA or IIROC environment

Strong familiarity with financial planning tools/software

Proven superior knowledge of a wide range of investment products and services

Ability to analyze financial statements

Proficient with computer software programs, e.g. Microsoft Office

Proven networking and relationship building skills

Superior sales abilities e.g. active listening, identifying business opportunities, influencing and negotiating to close sale.

Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people
