The Opportunity

We are looking for a Director of Finance to join our forward thinking, entrepreneurial business that is modernizing and reinventing how Finance & Insurance Solutions are delivered.    GPQ is growing at an unprecedented rate, with more than 80% of new business from direct client referrals and forecasted revenues of $20M for 2021-2022.   We are now looking to expand beyond the province.

This role goes well beyond managing the company's finances.  A typical day in this role, provides an opportunity to improve and create new measures for productivity, innovate creative solutions utilizing data to maximize company-wide growth,  and drive strategic direction.    

As Director of Finance,  you will provide leadership in all areas of Accounting, Finance and Administration.   You will report directly to the President and are responsible for one direct report.

Your Strengths

You have  a balanced mix of tactical finance skills, business acumen, the grit and motivation to build from the ground up, and an analytical mind to inform our business strategy.

You have an ability to influence business owners, support thoughtful decision making and can adapt to rapidly evolving environments.

Your solid financial knowledge and the ability to interpret numbers, draw conclusions, and make recommendations will allow you to deliver results and drive strategic growth.


  • Professional accounting designation or working towards one with significant recent and relevant experience.
  • Ideally you will possess deep experience in business planning, strategy development, or in a senior operational role within a high-pressure start-up environment and/or consulting firm, and expertise in building business models and feasibility of business cases.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience with  progressively greater responsibility
  • Experience managing people.   This role has one headcount assigned to this position.   You will be instrumental in identifying the skill set for this role and choosing the incumbent. 
  • Superb communication skills combined with a recognized ability to explain your analytical findings to non-finance people in a clear, concise manner.
  • Excellent English communication skills, written & verbal.   Bilingualism considered an asset.
  • Expert ability in MS Excel
  • Knowledge of the automotive or insurance industries will be considered an asset.
