Our highly valued manufacturing client is looking for a Controller to lead and take ownership of the finance function and supporting the CFO in managing a high-performance team.

The Controller is a driven leader who excels in collaborating and working with multiple functions within the organization. This role is critical in supporting decision making processes, providing mentorship to team members and enhancing ERP systems. Duties:

Manage all accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, foreign exchange and GL Oversee accurate month-end close process, prepare and present monthly financial statements including variance analyses and senior management insights within 10 business days Prepare and present quarterly and annual financial statements including reconciliations and supporting schedules Ensure accounting transactions are compliant with ASPE, internal controls and corporate policies Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure successful and timely completion Take ownership of cost accounting, product costing, standard costing and inventory valuation Analyze margins, production costs and operational efficiencies to support business performance Work with operations to understand key drivers impacting financial results Monitor and manage working capital (inventory, AR and AP) Oversee cash flow management, forecasting and the credit/collections process Lead the annual budgeting process across departments Establish rolling forecasts and provide monthly variance analyses with actionable recommendations Support strategic planning initiatives through financial modeling and scenario analyses Provide insights to leadership to support data driven decision making Ensure compliance with Canadian tax regulations (GST/HST, PST and corporate income tax) Support cross-border financial activities, including US tax and reporting requirements Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to regulatory and financial compliance requirements Identify and mitigate financial risks across the organization Act as the finance lead for ERP systems including enhancements, upgrades and process improvements Implement automation and improve efficiency in financial workflows and reporting Develop dashboards, reporting tools and KPIs to enhance visibility into financial & operational performance Ensure data integrity and alignment between financial and operational systems Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to build capability and accountability Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and support career development Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and high performance Ensure appropriate staffing, structure and workload balance within the accounting team Partner with operations, supply chain and leadership to align financial and operational objectives Translate financial results into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders Support business initiatives, capital investments, and process improvements with financial analysis Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and cost optimization

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or a related field Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation; CPA, CMA legacy designation preferred At least 5 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment Expert knowledge in cost accounting, product costing, inventory management and financial analyses in a manufacturing environment Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., PivotTables, SQL, Power Query, financial modeling) Experience with ERP systems; hands on with Navision or Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a strong asset Exposure to systems implementation and ADP Workforce Now is a bonus Strong understanding of Canadian tax regulations and experience with US cross-border matters is an asset Ability to lead and direct a team of accounting/finance professionals Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to translate financial information into business insights
