Summary Reporting to the Finance Supervisor- Fleet, the Junior Accountant – Fleet supports the accounting and reporting functions related to the Fort McKay Group of Companies fleet assets. Working closely with Finance, Operations, and Fleet Management, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the timely processing and reporting of fleet-related financial information in accordance with established policies, procedures, and company objectives. Key Focus: Prepare monthly fleet billings based on equipment utilization, approved rates, damages, and other chargeable fleet activities. Reconcile fleet asset records between SAP and operational systems to ensure asset data is accurate, complete, and aligned across all platforms. Work closely with Fleet Operations to investigate, resolve, and document discrepancies identified during monthly fleet reconciliations. Maintain equipment utilization and other operational data required to support fleet billings, reporting, and accounting activities. Prepare journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules for review as part of the monthly financial close process. Account reconciliations and supporting working papers to ensure the accuracy and completeness of fleet-related financial information. Create and maintain fixed asset records and projects in SAP in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assist with maintaining the fixed asset subledger by processing additions, transfers, retirements, and other asset record updates. Prepare documentation and supporting schedules for asset disposals, retirements, and other fleet-related transactions. Assist with the preparation and organization of supporting documentation required for internal and external audit requests. Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and record retention requirements. Participate in process improvement initiatives and recommend opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of existing fleet accounting processes. Develop a working knowledge of fleet accounting processes and provide support and coverage for month-end activities, as required. Assist the Finance Supervisor, Fleet, Controller, and CFO with other accounting and administrative duties as required. Knowledge and Requirements: High School Diploma required Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Knowledge in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Experience in SAP and/or Power Bi is considered an asset. 1-2 years of progressive experience in the Oil/Gas or Mining industry in a Finance or Accounting role is preferred. Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes. Current valid Class five (5) drivers license or better with a satisfactory 3 year driving abstract is required Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn new software systems. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new processes and responsibilities. Knowledge of heavy equipment, fleet operations, or the mining industry is considered an asset. Strong commitment to safety and compliance with company policies and procedures. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada Ability to work independently and multitask, as well as in a team environment. Ability to speak, write and read English is required This is a full time position located at the FMGOC Satellite office in Fort McMurray, AB. Shift: Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day NOTE: This is not a remote position.
