We’re hiring a Pensions & Savings Specialist to provide senior-level subject matter expertise and advisory support related to the design, governance, administration, and compliance of pension and savings programs in Canada. You’ll partners closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure pension programs are compliant, financially sound, well-governed, and aligned with business objectives and employee needs.

Minimum Requirements:
- 10 years of progressive experience in pensions, pension finance or administration within a corporate, consulting or institutional environment
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, legal or related field or related certifications and experience
- Deep knowledge of pension legislation with respect to defined benefit and defined contribution, pension tax regulations, employment/labour standards and privacy regulations
- Strong financial acumen and skills with respect to reporting, asset reconciliations and audit processes
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively in complex, regulated and changing organizations
- Ability to manage complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities

Responsibilities:
- Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on DB/DC pension and savings program design, governance, administration, and compliance
- Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, Payroll, Procurement, and external partners to resolve complex pension issues and support informed decision-making
- Ensure compliance with Canadian pension legislation, Income Tax Act requirements, employment standards, and privacy laws
- Support pension governance frameworks, including policies, procedures, committee materials, and documented decision-making
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess impacts, recommending and implementing mitigation strategies as needed
- Support audits, regulatory filings, compliance reviews, and issue remediation.
- Support selection, onboarding, and ongoing oversight of pension vendors (administrators, trustees, custodians, actuaries, consultants, insurers)
- Support pension financial reporting, funding, actuarial valuations, audits, and reconciliations and ensure accuracy and integrity of pension assets, contributions, benefit payments, and expenses Lead or support pension-related projects, including regulatory changes, vendor transitions, system implementations, and governance improvements.
Location and other key details:
- This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
- Hours of work are a regular in-office 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business need
