About the role

IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY Interim Vice President, Finance Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Duration: 6 months Location: Toronto, ON (hybrid)

Our client is a mid-sized Canadian financial services organization entering a period of transition within its finance function.

The organization requires an experienced, hands-on finance executive to provide immediate leadership, stabilize performance, and lead a structured review of its financial operations, systems, and team capabilities.

This is a critical interim mandate focused on restoring confidence, strengthening financial reporting, and ensuring the finance function is positioned to effectively support the organization going forward.

The Assignment This is not a “steady state” leadership role.

The Interim VP Finance will act as a hands-on transformation leader, working closely with the CFO and finance team to:

Stabilize the function through a period of change Assess and strengthen financial processes, reporting, and controls Identify gaps across systems, structures, and capabilities Lead the resolution of key operational and system-related challenges Elevate the overall performance and effectiveness of the finance function

The role requires someone equally comfortable operating at the executive level and working in the detail with the team to resolve issues and drive progress.

Key Mandate Areas

Functional Stabilization & Leadership Provide immediate leadership to the finance team, ensuring continuity and clarity during transition Re-establish operating rhythm, accountability, and performance standards Act as a visible and credible leader to rebuild confidence across stakeholders Financial Reporting & IFRS Excellence Ensure the integrity, timeliness, and quality of financial reporting Assess current IFRS compliance and reporting practices, identifying risks or deficiencies Strengthen technical accounting capabilities within the team Systems Remediation & Implementation Recovery Assess the current state of a challenged financial system implementation Identify root causes of delays, gaps, or performance issues Develop and execute a practical path to stabilization and delivery Partner with IT and external vendors as required to get the program back on track Process & Controls Assessment Conduct a detailed review of finance processes, procedures, and internal controls Identify inefficiencies, duplication, and breakdown points Implement pragmatic improvements aligned with best practices (without overengineering) Organizational & Talent Review Assess the structure, roles, and capabilities within the finance function Identify gaps in capacity, capability, and leadership Support the development of a more effective, scalable organizational model Coach and develop key team members, elevating overall performance Performance Improvement & Continuous Improvement Culture Introduce disciplined performance management across the function Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement Ensure improvements are embedded and sustainable beyond the assignment

Ideal Candidate Profile This assignment will suit a technically strong, hands-on senior finance leader with a track record of stepping into complex environments and delivering stabilization and improvement.

Key Requirements: CPA / CA designation (mandatory) Deep expertise in IFRS and complex financial reporting environments Proven track record leading finance teams through transformation or turnaround Experience recovering or stabilizing financial system implementations (ERP/finance platforms) Strong process orientation with the ability to diagnose and fix operational issues quickly Demonstrated ability to work both strategically and operationally (“in the weeds”) Credible, pragmatic leadership style with strong influencing skills
