Junior IT Business Analyst (Operational Risk) — 100% Remote - ANYWHERE IN CANADA
Help drive strategic Operational Risk initiatives within the insurance industry by transforming business needs into innovative technology solutions. Collaborate on enterprise risk projects, support Agile delivery, analyze data, document business requirements, and contribute to solutions that strengthen risk management and business performance.
What Is In It For You Salaried: $33-38 per hour. Incorporated Business Rate: $40-45 per hour. 6-month contract with the potential for permanent employment. Day schedule, 37.50 hours per week.
Responsibilities Analyze and document business processes related to operational risk, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation. Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, define, and document business and functional requirements for Risk IT initiatives. Develop clear and comprehensive Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and functional specifications to support system enhancements and risk reporting. Apply relational data concepts to support source-to-target data mapping and document data flows for enterprise data lake ingestion and reporting solutions. Partner with Agile teams to support the delivery of risk-related solutions while ensuring alignment with business requirements and project timelines. Conduct gap analysis and exploratory data analysis to identify improvement opportunities and support solution design.
What You Will Need To Succeed Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field. An advanced degree is considered an asset. Certifications in Agile methodologies, business analysis, or risk management are considered an asset. 2 years of experience as an IT Business Analyst or in a related role. Demonstrated ability to translate business and technical requirements into clear documentation, including Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), process flows, and data mappings. Solid understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, with experience using Jira and working within Scrum teams. Strong SQL proficiency and data analysis skills. Working knowledge of enterprise data lake architectures and cloud-based data platforms. Experience with RSA Archer or a similar GRC platform is considered an asset. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks related to operational risk, such as Basel and OSFI guidelines, is considered an asset. Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, including Power BI or Tableau, is considered an asset. Familiarity with Azure data platforms and services, including Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Databricks, is considered an asset. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
