Senior Accountant – Eastward Energy, Dartmouth

What You Will Do:

As the Senior Accountant, you will play an essential role within our Finance team, participating in full cycle accounting, reporting to the Manager, Finance & Accounting. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and related reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain account reconciliations to support month-end and year-end close activities with clear documentation supporting the financial statements and audit needs
  • Troubleshoot accounting or process related issues, perform technical analysis and interpret results.
  • Assist in processing accounts receivable.
  • Serve as the key Accounting team resource for Eastward Energy’s financial reporting (JDE) and billing (SAP) systems.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Assist and coordinate insurance and tax filings as needed.
  • Assist with regulatory filings, compliance requirements and other finance-related projects and initiatives.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from departments across the organization and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

This position has the following occupational requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting (degree or diploma) or equivalent related experience.
  • Minimum of five years of accounting or finance experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong experience using financial reporting and ERP systems, with JD Edwards and/or SAP considered an asset.

  • Able to assess priorities, make sound decisions, and organize work effectively.
