About the role

A career as a Senior Advisor – Risk Governance within the Integrated Risk Management team at National Bank means playing a key role at the heart of the evolution of the Bank’s risk management practices. You will act as an expert in the coherence and integration of risk management frameworks, ensuring their alignment and their ability to meet the highest regulatory and governance standards.

This role offers a unique opportunity to directly influence risk management practices across the organization. Working closely with specialized teams, you will contribute to structuring, harmonizing and demonstrating the robustness of the Bank’s risk governance framework, particularly in strategic areas such as financial crisis management, recovery and resolution planning, and executive risk attestation processes.

Your role:

Strengthen the governance of the risk management framework by defining cross-functional expectations and embedding policy framework best practices, while ensuring consistent application across the organization

Ensure a consistent and demonstrable integration of risk management components, by establishing clear linkages between policies, frameworks, risk inventory, controls and indicators to support an integrated and practical enterprise view

Enhance governance and oversight mechanisms, by guiding and challenging accountable teams to ensure the quality, consistency and demonstrability of deliverables

Lead the risk management attestation process with the Chief Risk Officer and governance bodies, ensuring structured, reliable and auditable evidence of framework effectiveness

Contribute to the governance of the financial crisis management program, including recovery and resolution plans as well as crisis simulations, by ensuring proper integration of results into risk frameworks

Influence stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor, supporting the evolution and strengthening of risk governance practices across the organization

Lead activities related to regulatory reviews and internal audit engagements, and support executive-level reporting when required

Your team:

As part of the Integrated Risk Management and Credit Analytics sector, you will join a team of 26 professionals and report to the Senior Director, Integrated Risk Management.

Your impact: You will directly contribute to strengthening the credibility of the Bank’s risk management framework with governance bodies and regulators.

Prerequisites:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field and at least 7+ years of experience in risk management or risk governance

Strong knowledge of risk management practices

Advanced ability to leverage artificial intelligence tools to enhance the quality and efficiency a of deliverables

Strong influencing skills, with the ability to mobilize and align stakeholders without direct authority

Excellent structuring and analytical skills, rigor, autonomy and strong sense of initiative

Collaborative mindset with a focus on pragmatic, solution-oriented approaches

Strong communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex issues for various audiences

Languages: French, English Reason to require this language: you will need to collaborate with a regulator/authority/government body outside Quebec. Required skills: Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Diversity & Inclusion, Empathy, Initiative, Learning Agility, Resiliency, Teamwork
