Position Status: Full-Time – Non-Union Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Reports To: Senior Director of Finance

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence, Bob Rumball Camp for the Deaf, and Bob Rumball Foundation for the Deaf.
The Finance Manager ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting while overseeing operational accounting functions, budgeting processes, audits, and financial compliance. This role provides strategic financial insight to support organizational decision-making and leads the Finance team in achieving operational excellence through effective leadership, process improvement, and sound financial management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
LEADERSHIP AND TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Lead, mentor, coach, and support the Finance team by fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and professional development.
- Provide leadership that aligns team goals and performance with the organization’s strategic priorities, mission, vision, and values.
- Establish departmental goals, priorities, and work plans that support the Annual Business Plan.
- Support change initiatives and identify opportunities to improve financial processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
- Promote a collaborative, customer-focused approach when working with internal departments and external stakeholders.
FINANCIAL OPERATIONS AND REPORTING
- Oversee all accounting and financial control functions, including daily financial operations.
- Supervise and support the Finance team, including the Accounts Receivable Clerk, Accounts Payable Clerk, and Senior Accountant.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and quarterly ministry and funding reports.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
- Ensure timely preparation and filing of GST/HST returns and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable legislation, funding requirements, and organizational policies.
- Coordinate annual external financial audits.
- Monitor financial performance, prepare variance analysis and forecasts, and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
- Provide financial guidance and professional judgment to support organizational planning and decision-making.
BUDGETING AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Assist the Senior Director of Finance with the annual operating budget process in collaboration with program and department leaders.
- Support financial planning and resource allocation across the organization.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial systems, reporting processes, and departmental effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) in good standing.
- Minimum three years of progressive management experience, preferably within the not-for-profit sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and audit processes.
- Experience managing government funding, ministry reporting, and contribution agreements is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
- Experience leading organizational change and implementing process improvements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and ERP accounting software.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and QuickBooks is considered an asset.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines, manage multiple projects, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
WORKING REQUIREMENTS
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the Bob Rumball organizations.
- Willingness to participate in American Sign Language (ASL) training and continue developing ASL skills to an appropriate level of proficiency.
