Junior Controller/Accounting Manager with Manufacturing industry experience ( prefer plastics/packaging)
Role Overview This is a hands-on senior accounting role supporting a production-driven manufacturing environment. The position is designed to own day-to-day accounting execution, ERP integrity, and process improvement while freeing up time for the Controller. This is not a traditional Accounting Manager role and is not a pure FP&A or pricing strategy position. It is best suited for a Senior Accountant or CPA-track professional who is strong operationally, comfortable working alongside production teams, and focused on accuracy, controls, and continuous improvement. The facility operates 24/7. This role works standard business hours but supports a business that runs continuously, requiring responsiveness and strong coordination with operations. Key Responsibilities Core Accounting & Compliance Full-cycle accounting including bank and credit card reconciliations Month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations HST/GST and sales tax filings AP/AR oversight and review Support year-end close, audits, and external advisors Maintain accurate financial records and supporting schedules ERP, Systems & Data Integrity Own accounting activities within QuickBooks and ensure alignment with ERP / production-side systems Ensure accuracy between accounting data, order processing, inventory, and job costing Partner with operations to validate costs, pricing inputs, and production data Support ERP clean-up, reporting enhancements, and workflow improvements Improve system discipline across order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles Manufacturing, Process & QA Support Work closely with production and operations teams to ensure financial accuracy tied to manufacturing output Support process checks, QA-related reporting, and accuracy controls Assist with contract performance and margin reporting (analysis support, not pricing ownership) Identify inefficiencies, errors, and gaps; implement continuous improvement (CI) initiatives Improve close timelines, reconciliation processes, and reporting reliability
Ideal Candidate Profile years of accounting experience in manufacturing or production-driven environments CPA or CPA-track (new immigrants strongly encouraged to apply) Experience using QuickBooks Strong hands-on experience with: Bank reconciliations Month-end close Sales tax (HST/GST) ERP-integrated accounting environments Comfortable partnering with operations and production teams Detail-oriented, process-driven, and execution-focused Thrives in structured, fast-paced environments
