About The Role
This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 2-3 day(s) on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities. It is preferred that our successful candidate is located in Lethbridge or Southern Alberta.
As ATB Business’ next Senior Underwriting Manager, you are someone who loves solving problems and leveraging your financial skills to find ways to create a meaningful impact for our clients. Your primary responsibility is to collaborate with a Relationship Manager and structure/recommend optimum credit solutions for ATB’s clients in both diversified commercial lending and investment real estate requests. You are considered an experienced lender with a strong understanding of ATB's credit risk appetite and have 5+ years experience structuring credit for commercial borrowers.
Beyond your core responsibilities, your expertise will be leveraged by others on the Central Underwriting Team and various ATB project teams. While primarily a non-customer-facing role, you will periodically participate in or lead client meetings. You will report to the Director, Central Underwriting.
Accountabilities
Collaborate with the Relationship Manager to assess risk and prepare credit assessments through completion of applications for credit. Ensure credit decisions/recommendations are in accordance with sound credit granting principles and are in accordance with ATB lending policy and procedures. Enhancing and maintaining a strong relationship with ATB Risk and Credit groups. Be a key member of the deal team motivating team members to ensure flawless execution for our clients. Act as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior underwriters and sales team members, sharing credit knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of sound and consistent lending.
Skills, Experience & Requirements
5+ years of experience underwriting commercial business loans with a strong preference for individuals with previous Diversified underwriting experience. Undergraduate degree in business commerce, economics, or related business experience. Strong analytical and financial analysis skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
