Reporting to the Director, Project Management Office, the Project Manager is responsible for managing cross-departmental Business Projects and/or Information Technology Systems (ITS) related projects in a diverse portfolio. This position requires strong project management knowledge including planning, executing and monitoring projects through to completion and benefits realization. The role also supports coordinated delivery planning across related initiatives by identifying interdependencies, sequencing work, and ensuring outcomes align with broader business priorities and organizational goals. The successful candidate will have an extensive background working in the insurance space, specifically with health and dental claims. What You’ll Do: Manages project scope, schedule, quality, budget, resources, and communication plans while proactively identifying, tracking, and resolving project issues. Leads project meetings, oversees governance and dependency management, and ensures the project team remains focused by minimizing distractions, disruptions, and impediments to progress. Leads the identification, assessment, documentation, and ongoing monitoring of project risks throughout the project lifecycle. Develops, tracks, and escalates risk mitigation strategies that reflect business priorities, process effectiveness, delivery timelines, and regulatory/privacy requirements. Provides regular project and delivery updates through appropriate governance forums, including performance metrics, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions required, and recommendations for escalation. Manages change and competing demands by assessing impacts to scope, schedule, budget, and risk, and clearly communicating required adjustments to stakeholders. Creates and maintains project timelines at the appropriate level of detail, ranging from high-level milestone plans to integrated multi‑team schedules. Builds and maintains productive relationships with project sponsors, stakeholders, partners, vendors, and leadership across all impacted areas to ensure alignment and successful project delivery. Manages and coordinates external vendors to ensure deliverables, timelines, and contractual obligations are met. Champions organizational change and supports the adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working. Ensures project decisions and deliverables align with sound business process design and operational best practices. This includes deployment readiness planning, transition to operations and post-implementation handoff processes. Supports business case delivery by tracking expected outcomes, benefits, risks, assumptions, and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. Monitors project financials, including forecasts, budgets, variances, and required corrective actions, where applicable. Promotes knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and project management best practices to support continuous improvement across the PMO. Let’s Talk About You: A minimum of 8 years’ experience in insurance, financial services, or a related industry is required; health and dental claims experience is strongly preferred. A University degree in a related field is required. PMP and Agile certification are an asset. Experience leading Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid projects as well as large integrated programs is required. Proven experience leading projects with business sponsors, internal and external partners, and cross-functional teams, including managing budgets, customer expectations, risks, escalations, issue resolution, and project execution plans. Strong facilitation skills with the ability to plan and facilitate workshops, brainstorming and planning sessions, and detailed operational tasks. The ability to work in an environment where project processes and frameworks are in early stages of maturity. A self-starter and motivated team player who is flexible and can effectively deal with ambiguity and adapt quickly to shifting priorities and rapid changes. A positive attitude, a strong customer service orientation, and ability to present complex technical ideas clearly and in plain language to influence, negotiate and collaborate successfully. A problem solver with the ability to effectively identify and resolve issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise updates to all levels of leadership and project stakeholders. Working Conditions: General office environment. Hybrid or remote work option available.
