Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the Vice-President, Finance & Administration (VPFA) serves as the University’s chief administrative officer and a key member of the senior leadership team. The VPFA provides strategic oversight of a broad portfolio including Finance, Facilities and Campus Planning, Information Technology Services, Information Security, Safety and Risk Services, and Campus Services. Responsible for financial stewardship, capital planning, infrastructure renewal, digital transformation, and administrative modernization, the VPFA ensures the University’s operational capabilities effectively support its academic and research mission.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and values-driven executive with senior leadership experience in large, complex, multi-stakeholder environments such as higher education, government, healthcare, or another mission-driven organization. Combining strong financial and operational expertise with a demonstrated ability to lead organizational transformation, they bring a track record of fostering high-performing teams and building trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. An effective communicator and consensus-builder, they are adept at navigating complex governance structures, competing priorities, and advancing institutional goals through inclusive and consultative leadership. An accounting designation or related financial credentials are strongly preferred.

The salary range for this position is between $246,788 to $315,283. The University also offers a comprehensive pension and benefits package, and eligibility for relocation assistance, in accordance with applicable SFU policies.
