About The Role
We are seeking talented Data Scientists to join our Data Science team at Stripe. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product, Finance, Payments, Security, Risk, Growth, and Go-to-Market—to leverage data insights, develop machine learning models, and run experiments that drive strategic decision-making. Your work will influence various aspects of our business, such as optimizing product features, preventing fraud, forecasting key metrics, managing liquidity, and enhancing user experiences. As a Data Scientist at Stripe, you will play a vital role in translating complex data into actionable insights, ensuring our products and strategies are data-driven and impactful. This position offers the chance to work on broad and meaningful projects that shape the future of online commerce and financial technology.
Qualifications
PhD + 3 years, MS/MA + 6 years, or BS/BA + 8 years of data science or quantitative modeling experience Proficiency in SQL and a programming language such as Python or R Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in machine learning, statistics, optimization, product analytics, causal inference, and experimentation Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful results Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex analyses and recommendations Proven ability to manage multiple projects with high attention to detail Solid business acumen and experience in synthesizing data insights into strategic actions A builder’s mindset with a curiosity to question assumptions and explore innovative solutions
Responsibilities
Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and identify opportunities for data-driven improvements Develop, implement, and refine machine learning models and statistical analyses to support product, risk, and business strategies Design and analyze experiments to evaluate new features, optimize processes, and quantify causal effects Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for stakeholders Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy models into production environments and monitor their performance Ensure data quality and integrity across various sources and datasets Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative analytical techniques Contribute to the development of scalable data tools and infrastructure to support ongoing analytics efforts
