EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Position: Chief Administrative Officer – Full-Time Position

Reports to: Chief and Council

Location: Sault Ste. Marie

Summary Of Function/Key Responsibilities:

The (CAO) is responsible for the overall planning, organization, directing and controlling of all programs and services of the Missanabie Cree First Nation (MCFN), ensuring high quality in delivery of programs and services. The CAO demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of core programs, operations, strategic and business plans and current challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of MCFN. The CAO collaborates with Missanabie Cree Business Corporation, representing MCFN in operational matters. Key responsibilities include supporting the work of Chief and Council; strategic advisory; member advocacy; financial and human resources oversight and risk management; stakeholder engagement and communication.

MCFN gives preference to Missanabie Cree members first, then other Indigenous applicants and then all other applicants.

Salary:

Starting Salary ranging from $120,000 to $180,000, depending on experience.

Required Skills:

A visionary CAO who will walk alongside Chief and Council, staff, Elders, youth and community citizens, bringing an exceptional professional administrative leadership with a commitment to ongoing learning and development. Candidates must possess a strong understanding and appreciation for Mushkegowuk Cree traditional culture and the social realities experienced by Indigenous peoples and demonstrate knowledge of Mushkegowuk Cree culture and language; a demonstrated commitment to learning is considered a strong asset. The ideal candidate will actively support cultural revitalization and a willingness to participate. We seek a CAO will can demonstrate respect for Mushkegowuk Cree traditions, culture, beliefs and value; and who will promote and facilitate a transparent, respectful, accountable and culturally safe workplace on and off site. A post-secondary degree in Business Administration or its equivalent is an asset; a combination of education and lived experience will be taken into consideration. At least five (5) years’ related experience in an organization of comparable size at a senior management level, preferably in a federally regulated organization; Experience working within a First Nation is an asset. Experience in the preparation, administration and reporting requirements of funding agreements. Working knowledge of federally regulated organizations, organizational structures, oversee resource allocations. Strong and proven negotiation skills; Ability to use good judgment in assessing demanding situations; work under pressure to meet deadlines. Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written; computer skills. Must undergo a criminal record check and financial background check prior to employment. Requirements:

Ability to travel Acess to a Vehicle Driver's Licence
