Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager and Controller, the Corporate Accountant will assist in full-cycle accounting and month-end/year-end close processes, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis. This role will also be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards under ASPE and providing insightful analysis to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent technical skills, prior experience in full-cycle accounting, strong attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly. The role will also play an active role in continually establishing and improving internal financial processes and controls within the department. Job Description Complete month-end/year-end close processes, including preparing account reconciliations, journal entries and supporting working papers Ensure accuracy and completeness of accruals, including proper coding and recording of revenue, expenditures and balance sheet transactions Assist in reviewing, analyzing and investigating accounts, including reconciling data across systems Support the preparation and consolidation of monthly financial statements and recording of inter-company transactions across multiple subsidiaries Assist with interim/year-end audit processes within scheduled deadlines Support accounts receivable and accounts payable functions Liaise and work closely with other finance functions across multiple subsidiaries Perform ad hoc projects/assignments as required, including system enhancement and process improvement initiatives Qualifications Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field CPA designation with 3-5 years of related accounting experience and strong knowledge of ASPE and multi-entity consolidations Experience at a Canadian Public Accounting firm is preferred Experience in the health care sector is an asset Advanced knowledge in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.) Ability to work within established deadlines in a high growth and rapidly changing environment Proficiency in using accounting software, financial management tools and spreadsheets #corp_shc2 Additional Information This position is a current vacancy Spectrum Health Care is thrilled to be named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.
