We are continually innovating so our customers can deploy advanced and effective tools to protect their companies, communities, and countries. Serving thousands of customers globally, our solutions are playing a crucial role in modernizing digital investigations, helping investigators fight crime, protect assets, and guard national security. With employees based around the world, Magnet Forensics has been expanding our global presence. As a part of Magnet Forensics, you can expect to make a difference in the world, no matter what role you play. You’ll be supported through learning and development, not to mention an incredible team with unbelievable talent and integrity. If you think you would be the right person to join our team working towards this goal, we would love to hear from you!

Role Overview We're seeking a Senior Cloud FinOps Engineer to join the Shared Services Engineering team at Magnet Forensics. Reporting to the Director of the Shared Services group, you'll enable cloud and AI cost visibility, forecasting, and optimization across our AWS, Azure, and AI environments, and build the tooling and processes that give engineering and finance teams the data they need to make good decisions. This is an engineering-first role. You will analyze, but you'll also automate those analyses, make concrete engineering recommendations, and leverage AI to operate more efficiently and effectively. You'll operate with significant autonomy and have real influence over how we manage and optimize a material cloud investment. This role is a great fit if you're motivated by turning complexity into clarity, enjoy building tooling to eliminate manual processes, and want your work to have direct and measurable business impact. Please note: The interview process will include technical elements covering cloud architecture, writing code (tool-level scripting), and cloud cost analysis. \n

What You'll Do Own cloud cost visibility across AWS and Azure: maintain tagging hygiene, virtual cost allocation, and the tooling (Finout and related) that surfaces accurate spend by product, team, and workload; Identify and enable and/or drive cost savings measures; Automate workflows for routine activities like bill reconciliation and payment; Enhance and maintain budget forecasting capability such that we can forecast monthly with high accuracy and low overhead; Evolve unit economics frameworks: instrument the pipeline that collects product telemetry, routes it to cost allocation tooling, and produces dashboards that show cost-per-unit across relevant dimensions; Make recommendations for Savings Plans and Reserved Instances across AWS services (EC2, RDS, OpenSearch, and others), and track realized savings; Monitor for cost anomalies and optimization opportunities: maintain alerting and review cadences that surface anomalies early, and drive remediation with the relevant engineering teams.

What We're Looking For 2+ years of industry experience with meaningful depth in cloud cost management, Financial Operations ("FinOps"), or cloud platform engineering with a strong cost focus; Hands-on experience with AWS cost and billing: understands the structure of AWS invoices, Cost Explorer, Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), and how tagging strategies affect cost allocation accuracy; Experience with Azure cost management is also an asset; Familiarity with AI cost concepts Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts that affect costs and modelling; Builds tooling that automates financial and/or analysis workflows — not just monitored or maintained dashboards someone else built; Works with a FinOps platform (Finout, Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth, or similar) beyond basic reporting: understands virtual tagging, allocation rules, and how to get accurate per-product cost visibility from messy shared infrastructure; Develops and executes a savings plan or reservation strategy: has analyzed usage, modeled commitment options, made a recommendation, and tracked the outcome; Writes code or scripting to automate workflows: Python, Bash, or equivalent; Leverages AI to responsibly accelerate analysis and tooling creation; Communicates clearly across technical and financial audiences: can explain cost drivers to an engineer and budget variances to a finance partner without losing either audience; Brings a continuous improvement mindset: identifies toil, proposes fixes, and follows through — takes ownership with minimal direction. Must be able to operate within approximately Eastern Time Zone hours.
