About The Role

ATB Capital Markets Corp. is a wholly owned subsidiary of ATB Financial, an Alberta-based institution with offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Denver. Together, we represent a highly specialized team of experts who provide a full suite of financial service solutions, including:

Advice on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and private equity Corporate banking, loan syndications and project finance Equity capital, debt capital and financial markets Institutional sales and trading Institutional research to leverage industry and sector insights

ATB Capital Markets Corp. is looking for an Analyst to join the Energy & Infrastructure group within the Investment Banking team. The team draws from a breadth and depth of experience, with insights into the complexity of the energy industry from upstream, midstream, energy services and technology, energy expansion and renewables sectors. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the transaction process and development of strategic business ideas.

You will join a dynamic entrepreneurial team and have the opportunity to work with clients and senior management. You will assist in the execution of Investment Banking, MA&D and other Financing mandates and will closely work with professionals across the firm to deliver high quality advice to our clients.

This position is onsite working out of our office located in downtown Calgary, AB.

Note: This role may be elevated to the Associate level based on the candidate's skills and experience

Accountabilities

Dynamic and multi-faceted role, supporting Investment Banking and MA&D. Providing technical and commercial evaluations of assets and corporates for the purposes of assessing acquisition and divestment opportunities and other investment banking initiatives. Maintaining and developing databases and spreadsheets. Supporting senior bankers on financing and M&A transactions. Conduct in-depth industry and company related research. Developing presentation materials and strategic documents. Primary responsibilities focused within the upstream, midstream and services sectors with a meaningful opportunity in the expanding Energy sector.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

Post-secondary education (Bachelor's Degree or higher) with a focus in Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or a similar field is required. Must have completed, or be near completing, any of the following; MBA, CFA, CA, CPA and/or CBV. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). Knowledge of Bloomberg and Factset (or similar) is considered an asset. Strong work ethic with an appreciation for schedule uncertainty. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to excellence. Team oriented with the ability to work in an open and unstructured environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prior upstream energy, investment banking, corporate development, or capital markets experience is required.
