About the role

About Aria Advisory Aria Advisory is an actuarial and insurance advisory practice built exclusively for the Canadian Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry. Our name stands for Actuarial, Risk, Insurance, and Analytics — the four pillars of our work — and our purpose is simple: to build Canada's next-generation actuarial advisory firm, a place where exceptional actuaries do their best work and where clients experience the difference that deep specialization and true partnership make.

We were founded on a belief that people, partnerships, and performance are inseparable. When exceptional professionals are given the conditions to do their best work, the depth of their counsel shows, clients feel the difference real partnership makes, and performance becomes the proof. We measure our success not by what we extract from our relationships, but by what we build through them.

Our Culture — Coaching, Not Command-and-Control We are building Aria around a simple but radical idea: that a consulting firm should be a place where people feel safe enough to learn, supported enough to grow, and clear enough on their purpose to do meaningful work every day. Every team member is developed deliberately, through mentorship, new skills, and new experiences — not measured against arbitrary targets. This isn't a game you win. It's one you commit to playing well, for a very long time.

The Career Path We're hiring across four levels, and each builds on the one before it. The first three deepen technical mastery and delivery at increasing levels of responsibility; the Principal Advisor role adds client account ownership, business development, and leadership on top of senior technical expertise. Wherever you enter, you'll grow with intention toward the next.

The Levels — Experience, Focus & Compensation

  1. Actuarial Analyst Experience: 3+ years of Canadian P&C actuarial experience. Focus: Hands-on technical delivery — executing core valuation, reserving, capital, and analytics work to a high standard, learning directly from senior actuaries who stay involved from start to finish. Compensation: $75,000 – $100,000 (CAD)

  2. Actuarial Advisor Experience: 5+ years of Canadian P&C actuarial experience. Focus: Owns technical delivery end to end, exercises methodology judgment, mentors Analysts, and begins deepening client relationships. Compensation: $100,000 – $150,000 (CAD)

  3. Senior Actuarial Advisor Experience: 10+ years of Canadian P&C actuarial experience. Focus: The senior individual-contributor peak — leads the most complex engagements, provides technical sign-off, and advises clients as a trusted senior voice. Ideal for those who may not want account management but whose expertise elevates every engagement. Compensation: $150,000 – $250,000 (CAD)

  4. Principal Actuarial Advisor Experience: 10+ years of Canadian P&C actuarial experience, including senior client-facing work; Appointed Actuary experience strongly preferred. Focus: Owns client accounts and relationships end to end, leads business development, and is responsible for the success of engagements — a trusted senior actuary and steward of Aria's mission, with a pathway to firm leadership. Compensation: $200,000 – $300,000+ (CAD), plus performance- and profitability-based incentives tied to the accounts you manage.

These figures are general guidelines, not prescriptive — the right person matters more than a precise band. All levels include a competitive total-rewards package: performance-based bonus, benefits, and genuine support for continued actuarial education and professional development.

Areas of Expertise We Value We'd love to see genuine strength or strong curiosity in one or more of the following. The depth and breadth we expect scale with the level: Corporate actuarial and Appointed Actuary work Reserving and actuarial valuation Financial reporting (including IFRS 17) Capital modelling and financial condition testing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and ORSA Pricing and underwriting Data analytics and predictive modelling

You don't need all of these — few people do. We are far more interested in strong actuarial judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine desire to serve this industry than in a checklist of every skill.

Who You Are Above all, we are looking for dedicated, trusted professionals who are ready to serve the Canadian P&C insurance industry — people who take the responsibility of actuarial work seriously, and who find meaning in doing it well. Dedicated and trustworthy — you honour your commitments, and clients and colleagues rely on you. Genuinely curious, and generous in sharing what you know; you help others get better. A clear communicator who can translate technical work into language leaders can act on. Canadian P&C actuarial experience appropriate to your level (see above), with a solid grasp of the Canadian regulatory and reporting environment (OSFI, CIA Standards of Practice). Actuarial credentials appropriate to your level — from meaningful progress toward ACIA/FCIA for Analysts, up to FCIA (and/or FCAS) with Appointed Actuary experience for senior roles. Eligibility to work in Canada, and a home base anywhere in the country — we are genuinely flexible on location.

What We Offer Senior-led, meaningful work: the people who sell the work do the work — you'll be close to clients and their most consequential decisions. A real coaching culture: deliberate development, mentorship, and the space to grow into the actuary and advisor you want to become. AI-augmented practice: modern tools that amplify your judgment and take care of the mechanical layers — technology augments the actuary, it never replaces one. Deep specialization: we focus solely on Canadian P&C, the market we know better than anyone, so your expertise compounds. Flexibility and trust: remote or hybrid, from anywhere in Canada, with a high degree of autonomy.

How to Apply If this resonates, we'd love to hear from you. Apply through this posting and let us know which level fits you best — or simply apply and we'll find the right fit together. Aria Advisory is an equal-opportunity employer, and we warmly welcome applications from every qualified candidate who shares our commitment to serve the insurance industry.
