About the role

IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY Interim Vice President, Finance Systems Integration Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Location: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario Duration: 9-12 Month Hybrid Start Date: Immediate

Our client is a large, complex Canadian organization undertaking a significant enterprise-wide transformation enabled through the implementation of Oracle ERP. Having reached the testing and deployment phase of the program, the organization is seeking an experienced Interim Vice President, Finance Systems Integration to step into a critical leadership role and help guide the project through its final and most consequential stages.

This role is ideal for a senior finance transformation leader who combines deep financial acumen with extensive experience leading large-scale ERP and finance system implementations. The successful candidate will bring the credibility, judgment, and execution capability required to quickly assess a complex environment, stabilize a project already underway, and ensure the organization realizes the full value of its technology investment.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the VP will act as a strategic bridge between Finance, Technology, Operations, project leadership, and the external systems integrator.

Mandate The organization has made a substantial investment in a transformational Oracle platform and is seeking a seasoned executive who can rapidly evaluate the current state of the program, identify risks and optimization opportunities, and help drive the implementation to a successful outcome. This individual will not be expected to build the program from the ground up. Rather, they will enter an active project environment and provide experienced leadership, challenge assumptions where required, ensure appropriate governance and accountability, and help the organization maximize both the operational and financial benefits of the new platform.

Key Responsibilities Assume leadership of a complex Oracle ERP implementation that is currently in advanced stages of testing and deployment. Conduct a rapid assessment of project health, governance structures, risks, dependencies, and readiness for implementation. Partner closely with the systems integrator and internal project leadership teams to establish alignment on priorities and execution plans. Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, configuration concerns, and areas requiring remediation before go-live. Assess opportunities for business process optimization across core finance functions. Ensure finance requirements are appropriately reflected within system design, workflows, controls, reporting, and operating models. Drive issue resolution among stakeholders while maintaining momentum and program confidence. Lead finance workstreams associated with user acceptance testing, process validation, readiness planning, and cutover activities. Advise the CFO and executive leadership team on program risks, financial impacts, resource requirements, and decision points. Support change management efforts to ensure successful adoption across the organization. Establish practical governance and performance measures to monitor ongoing implementation success. Help position the organization to achieve long-term value realization following implementation.

The Ideal Candidate The successful executive will bring a unique combination of finance leadership experience and large-scale transformation expertise.

Candidates should possess: Previous experience serving as a senior finance executive, Vice President Finance, CFO, or equivalent leadership role. Deep understanding of finance operations, financial controls, reporting, FP&A, budgeting, treasury, and accounting processes. Extensive experience leading large-scale ERP implementations, upgrades, or finance transformations. Demonstrated success delivering ERP implementations within large, complex organizations. Significant experience working alongside major systems integrators and third-party implementation partners. Proven ability to recover, stabilize, or redirect projects experiencing implementation, governance, or execution challenges. Strong understanding of business process redesign and finance transformation methodologies. Experience operating within highly matrixed and complex stakeholder environments. Ability to build credibility quickly with executive leadership teams and project stakeholders. Exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship management skills.

Leadership Profile

The ideal candidate will be: Calm, pragmatic, and highly credible. Comfortable entering a project midstream and rapidly identifying priorities. Equally effective with executive leaders, finance teams, technology leaders, and external partners. Solutions-oriented and able to balance strategic thinking with practical execution. Skilled at navigating complexity and driving alignment across diverse stakeholder groups. Focused on achieving outcomes rather than simply delivering system functionality.

What Success Looks Like By the conclusion of the assignment, the successful executive will have: Brought clarity, governance, and confidence to a complex implementation program. Identified and addressed key risks impacting implementation success. Optimized core finance processes and system design where required. Strengthened engagement and accountability with the systems integrator and project stakeholders. Improved organizational readiness and adoption. Helped ensure a successful Oracle implementation that delivers lasting business value. Positioned Finance and the broader organization to leverage a world-class ERP platform in support of future growth, operational excellence, and strategic decision-making.

LHH Knightsbridge Perspective This assignment is less about technology and more about transformation. The client requires a leader who understands that successful ERP implementations are ultimately business transformation initiatives, not IT projects. They need an executive who speaks the language of Finance, understands how world-class organizations operate, and can bring the discipline, experience, and leadership necessary to ensure that a major Oracle investment translates into measurable business value.
