The incumbent manages the distribution and trading of government bonds, ensuring market liquidity and meeting client needs. They analyze investment opportunities, execute transactions with precision, and monitor risks to protect capital and generate profits. They ensure compliance with industry and organizational standards and procedures while maintaining a high level of professionalism and technical expertise.
Laurentian Bank Securities is an integrated full-service investment dealer. Its respected Institutional Fixed Income division holds a leading position in government and corporate bond underwriting across Canada, as well as in market-making and trade execution activities.
Responsibilities
Manage the government bond distribution process based on our participations in purchase groups (primary market). Maintain and provide the liquidity of securities (trading, market making). Analyze financial product needs and make relevant acquisitions to resell at a profit for clients and LBS. Master the various computer tools to execute and record solicited transactions. Demonstrate diligence and professionalism to minimize errors and correct those of internal and/or external clients. Ensure the thorough application of industry standards and procedures. Recognize that the professionalism of his or her work directly impacts salespeople/ representatives,clients and the corporate image of LBS. Consistently monitor inventory levels, volatility and adversity to protect LBS's capital. Ensure that the trading desk respects the aggregates and the limits of the counterparty and issuer. Keep abreast of developments in his or her field and constantly upgrade his or her technical skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics. Three (3) years of experience in the brokerage industry. CFA designation is considered an asset. The following Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) courses are required: Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam (CIRE) →Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam (CIRE) Institutional Securities Exam →Institutional Securities Exam Proficiency in both French and English* Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matterswith internal and external parties in both languages.
