Are you ready to contribute to Air Canada’s next chapter? Reporting to the Principal, Financial Analysis, this position acts as a strategic finance partner and trusted advisor to senior leadership across the organization.
The role is responsible for leading end-to-end financial evaluation of high-impact, cross-functional strategic initiatives, including fleet strategy, network planning, partnerships, and corporate investments. The incumbent develops and owns complex financial models, provides actionable insights to support executive decision-making, and influences key outcomes through rigorous analysis and business partnering.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and leadership while demonstrating a strong understanding of all cost areas related to the airline’s operations, as well as overall airline strategy. Development of complex financial models to evaluate key decisions related to fleet composition and multibillion dollar fleet renewal programs. Provide financial analysis to the Network Planning & Fleet Transactions group in support of key tactical fleet decision.
  • Working with all levels of the Commercial group, develop financial models and provide financial analysis and guidance related to aircraft deployment and new routes.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Network Planning, Commercial, Cargo, Alliances, and Corporate Development teams to support strategic initiatives and ensure alignment of financial and business objectives.
  • Work with various client groups, both within the Finance branch and across the company, to guide, develop and/or improve business decision-making processes, models and tools. Develop strong relationships with various internal clients and work closely to drive improved financial performance.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of airline economics, industry trends, and competitive dynamics, and perform benchmarking analyses with other carriers to support strategic insights.
  • Support multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, such as cargo long-term business case, regional and narrowbody fleet strategy initiatives, airport and infrastructure-related evaluations, sustainability initiatives

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience
  • Graduate studies (MBA or Masters in Finance) and/ or an accounting/a financial designation (CPA/CMA/CGA /CFA) would be a definite asset
  • Excellent understanding of cost accounting principles, financial evaluation techniques and statistical analysis
  • Very strong business and analytical skills
  • Very strong financial modelling skills
  • Leader and self-starter with demonstrated strong financial, technical skills and creativity
  • Flexible work schedule and ability to handle numerous and varied projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Keen interest and experience in the airline industry
  • Strong sense of initiative and work ethic
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to shift priorities and work under pressure
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot) and Power BI (an asset)
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment
