What the day will look like As a Senior Investment Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering strategic investment advice and sophisticated consulting solutions to institutional clients across a broad range of mandates. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex financial, investment, and risk-related challenges, with increasing specialization aligned to the successful candidate’s expertise, interests, and market opportunities. Providing consulting support services and technical support on a range of advisory and OCIO Investment clients and accounts; including pension and benefit plans (DB and DC), insurance funds, trust and endowment funds, and other special purpose funds. Support may include investment risk management initiatives, including asset-liability modelling (ALM), stress testing, liquidity analysis, and scenario analysis for institutional investors. Anticipating client issues, needs or concerns and proactively developing solutions to meet those needs in partnership with the Account Executive/lead Consultants. Raising the profile of Aon. Contributing to the development of the go to market strategy for the Investment Consulting Practice. Assisting in preparing and giving effective presentations to clients or prospects, as part of a team or individually. Identifying gaps between client needs and existing Aon Investment Consulting services; proposing and developing service enhancements, adding to Aon's product/service portfolio and intellectual capital. Working with other professional advisers, both internally and externally (i.e., record keepers, investment managers, etc.) on institutional investment funds across Canada. Providing guidance, mentoring and support to junior Investment Consulting colleagues as they serve their clients, ensuring high standards of service. Skills and experience that will lead to success More than 7 years working in a financial / investment consulting environment. Thorough understanding of institutional investment and investment industry insight and processes. Ideally gained from direct experience in a manager research, fund management, investment consulting or in a plan sponsor role. Understanding of investment concepts and the financial markets. Knowledge of the Canadian pension fund market. Proven client relationship management skills; ability to support a book of business. Establish yourself as a trusted advisor. Demonstrate strong client-facing skills with the ability to clearly articulate ideas and information and to respond promptly and effectively to all inquiries. Manage an extensive portfolio of various Institutional clients, including interaction with C-suite level personnel and investment committees in these client groups. Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical decision-making, and developing solutions for clients/business issues. Entrepreneurial and creative spirit by recognizing and capitalizing on opportunities to help with the growth and expansion of the organization. Detail and results-orientated; able to work independently on various projects, able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced; high- pressure environment and meet project targets. Technical expertise and the proven ability to remain current concerning investment industry trends, activity in the market, provincial and federal legislative policies and changes. Persuasive, forward-thinking, progressive, energetic, and focused. Strong analytical skills; accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. French / English bilingualism is preferred due to the frequent interactions with clients, colleagues, or partners based in Quebec, other Canadian provinces and/or internationally. Experienced with Microsoft Office suite of business applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Some travel is required to service clients. A teammate who can work with various types of individuals A desire to contribute to the success of Aon. A bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Actuarial Science or Commerce or a related field, or equivalent years of experience. Commitment to professional development.
