Corporate Accounting Manager
About the role
We are looking for a strong Manager, Corporate Accounting to join our clients' Finance team. The incumbent will manage a team of two and will be remote/hybrid out of the GTA.
Responsibilities :Lead the corporate accounting department, overseeing all essential functions such as managing investment accounting for both general and specialized funds, facilitating corporate financial reporting (including bank and account reconciliations), coordinating the corporate expense budget, and managing banking relationships to ensure the delivery of precise and timely financial data .Generate and present comprehensive financial and operational insights to senior management and other key stakeholders .Ensure that all critical internal and external reporting deadlines are consistently met .Confirm the team accurately prepares and submits all regulatory documentation promptly .Proactively identify, address, and remedy issues and exceptions, conducting thorough root-cause analyses to create and implement effective solutions and preventative strategies. Work in collaboration with internal teams and vendors to resolve challenges, escalating matters to senior management when necessary .Establish and enforce robust internal controls for all corporate accounting activities, ensuring procedures and regulatory requirements are communicated clearly and adhered to .Conduct research and provide strategic recommendations to senior management regarding intricate accounting matters and changes in regulations .Identify deficiencies within existing processes, evaluate their potential impact, and propose enhancements; ensure compliance documentation for financial reporting standards is maintained .Act as the main point of contact for coordinating the delivery of requested documents for both internal and external auditors .Collaborate with management in evaluating complex and non-routine accounting transactions .Engage in industry working groups focusing on inter-company and external life insurance as well as mutual fund and investment sectors .Perform additional tasks, projects, and initiatives as assigned .Provide guidance and mentorship to team members; assess training and developmental needs; assist in recruitment processes; define performance objectives; and oversee employee evaluations

Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business CPA designation Experience leading a team Experience with internal controls (ICOFR) test Strong experience with IFRS Experience in corporate accounting and controllership
Compensation: The compensation for this role is $110k - 140k base, plus 8% target annual bonus
