Your role Reporting to the head of Actuarial Services, the Actuarial Advisor is responsible for the completion of actuarial pricing related projects and underwriting/segmentation analysis under the supervision of experienced actuaries. Projects include but may not be limited to rate review for personal lines business, regulatory auto filings, pricing model updates and special project work. Seniority of the title may be higher based on the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
What you bring to the position • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Actuarial Science, or related discipline. • 3 or more years of P&C experience in rate making or related areas. • Completion of at least 5 actuarial exams. • Relevant computer and software skills (Advance Excel, Power BI) • French proficiency an asset, due to the nature of the tasks, tools and interactions with partners. • Deep understanding of insurance principles and actuarial pricing techniques. • Detail-orientation; organization and analytical skills. • Strong communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
What you will do • Validate and maintain actuarial methods and assumptions used in ratemaking. • Lead ratemaking and pricing analysis, including new business assessments, report preparation and government filings. • Review and analyze work products, including quotation, third-party market reports. • Collaborate with both internal and external business partners to ensure timely delivery of reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements • Interact with regulators and third-party data agency as needed. • Review performance of business partners and provide input to development of solutions. • Mentor junior team members.
