About the role

             

Permanent Full Time 

   Reporting to the Manager, Expense Management, you will be a member of a high performing finance team operating in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent is responsible ensuring accurate presentation of expenses for various areas within Canada Life’s Client Advisory Services (CAS) business unit. This includes, but is not limited to working with business partners and providing valuable financial support, variance analysis of expenses & forecasting (on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis), and facilitation of annual expense budgets.   What you will do

Budgeting – collaborating closely with business unit leaders to facilitate annual expense and expense recovery budgets, including the review of historical data, determining the activities for the year, and forecasting the resources required to meet business results Expense variance analysis

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual expense reporting for senior leaders Investigating and preparing a value-added analysis on key drivers, auditing/reconciling expenses and ensuring financial accuracy Present variance analysis to senior leaders on a monthly basis

Work alongside business partners to develop a monthly expense forecast Responsible for period-end accounting such as preparation of journal vouchers Ability to work in a team environment by providing support to a wide variety of stakeholders. Your ability to “lead at all levels” and work cohesively with multiple stakeholders with multiple agendas will be your strongest attribute Ability to identify issues as they arise, and problem solve in a timely manner Continuously look for new and more efficient ways of working and have a process improvement mindset Participate in special/ad-hoc projects as needed

  What you will bring

5 years of accounting and finance experience University degree majoring in finance, statistics, accounting, or a similar discipline CPA designation is preferred, but not required Critical thinking and ability to identify and solve problems as they arise Experience working with SAP and exporting reports Possess strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills Adaptable and able to thrive in an environment of change Self-starter, self-motivated Ability to juggle multiple priorities during peak workflow times and prioritize to meet deadlines Ability to present complex financial analysis to individuals with/without a finance background Proficient in MS Office with expert level skills in Excel Insurance industry an asset Effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills

  Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: London or Winnipeg.- The base salary for this position is between $62,800 - $104,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
