We are looking for a Accounts Payable Clerk to join our dynamic team at Trophy Foods. This position is for an existing vacancy and offers the opportunity to: Contribute to our mission of inspiring, creating, and delivering high-quality snacks with exceptional service. Overview: The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and completeness of the financial statements. This includes month/year-end closing, review of internal controls, completion of account reconciliations, and managing the audit PBC list. The incumbent will have a mandate to develop and implement process improvements, with the objective of driving efficiencies and building a best-in-class organization.
Overview: We are looking for a reliable and detailed-oriented professional to maintain our payable information. The Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for invoice entry, general ledger coding (where purchase orders were not assigned), responding to vendor inquiries around payments and processing cheques, EFTs, and wires.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Process vendor invoices as required, ensuring invoices are appropriately coded for General Ledger or proper purchase order is referenced. Processing freight invoices against accruals or with proper approvals from freight manager. Ensure invoices are legitimate and approved for payment. Monitor vendor payment agreements to take advantage of cash discounts whenever possible. Track vendor credits owed to the company and ensure they are appropriately applied to vendor invoices. Ensure vendor master is updated with correct information. Investigate and resolve any differences between supplier invoices and internal receiving/purchase orders, daily. Prepare and print cheques or wires (match invoices) or prepare EFT files for signing officer when required. Responsible for the confidentiality of personnel business expense data, legal documents and lawyer fees, asset information, customer/supplier information. Reconcile vendor account statements. Work with Financial Analyst on month-end and year end reporting, ensuring integrity reports are validated and ensuring GL balances match sub-ledgers. Identifies opportunities for improving processes. Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements: College diploma or University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. 4+ years of experience within a high-volume Accounts Payable environment. Consumer packaged goods and/or food & beverage industry experience preferred. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Strong analytical skills with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments and key business partners. Pro-active with vendor relations and continuous improvement mindset. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills. Self-starter who works well with limited supervision. Excellent knowledge of Accounting software; Excel, Word and Outlook (JDE/Esker/Hubble an asset).
