Job Title: Sr. Director, Strategic Vendor Management Position Summary: The Sr. Director, Strategic Vendor Management serves as the enterprise leader responsible for defining, transforming, and governing McKesson’s managed services and strategic technology supplier ecosystem. This role provides enterprise-wide strategic direction, operational leadership, and financial accountability across vendor management, service delivery governance, commercial management, operational excellence, and supplier performance. As a trusted advisor to CIO staff, Vice Presidents, and senior executives, the Sr. Director leads the evolution of the VMO from a transactional function into a strategic business capability that drives operational resilience, service excellence, innovation, and value realization. The role oversees enterprise governance frameworks, vendor performance, contract execution, risk management, service optimization, and financial stewardship while influencing long-term technology and business strategies. This leader combines executive-level strategic thinking with strong commercial and operational acumen, ensuring supplier relationships, managed services, and enterprise service delivery models align with McKesson's business objectives, regulatory requirements, and customer outcomes. Key Responsibilities Enterprise Vendor Strategy, Governance & Commercial Management Define and execute the enterprise strategy for managed services providers (MSPs) and strategic technology suppliers across McKesson Technology. Establish and mature enterprise-wide governance frameworks covering supplier performance, risk management, compliance, financial accountability, contract adherence, and value realization. Serve as the executive relationship owner for strategic technology partners, driving performance, innovation, issue resolution, and long-term partnership strategies. Lead post-contract commercial management activities including negotiations, cost optimization, portfolio rationalization, contract compliance, and vendor performance management. Own enterprise contractual governance, including Change Notices, commercial validations, rate card reviews, and alignment with Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Conduct detailed financial assessments, invoice audits, contract reconciliations, consumption-based billing reviews, and benchmarking analyses to ensure value for money and mitigate financial risk. Partner closely with Sourcing & Procurement to ensure seamless transition from sourcing events through operational execution and supplier lifecycle management. Service Performance & Operational Excellence Lead enterprise service delivery governance and establish performance frameworks that improve service quality, operational stability, business outcomes, and customer satisfaction. Develop operational metrics, performance dashboards, reporting frameworks, and executive insights that support data-driven decision making. Drive strategic gap assessments, operational transformation initiatives, and process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, and resilience. Establish and mature enterprise service delivery models, providing oversight and accountability across Service Delivery Managers and operational teams. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, operational rigor, and accountability throughout the supplier ecosystem. Platform Ownership & Process Governance Own the strategic direction, development, and optimization of platforms and tools supporting vendor governance, service delivery, and supplier performance management. Govern enterprise ITSM and non-ITSM processes, ensuring alignment with operational, service, and business objectives. Partner with cross-functional leaders to improve process integration, reporting capabilities, automation, and end-to-end service visibility. Establish governance standards, performance measurements, and controls that support enterprise risk management and regulatory compliance. Enterprise Leadership & Strategic Influence Direct senior leaders, Directors, second-level managers, and cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines and geographies. Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing recommendations on supplier strategy, operational risk, service performance, modernization initiatives, and business transformation opportunities. Analyze market trends, emerging technologies, sourcing strategies, and vendor landscapes to influence enterprise technology and operational strategies. Drive organizational effectiveness through leadership development, succession planning, workforce planning, and organizational design initiatives. Lead cross-functional transformation programs and change management efforts to enable adoption of enterprise priorities and strategic initiatives. Represent McKesson externally with strategic suppliers and industry partners while promoting operational excellence and enterprise stewardship. Scope & Impact Enterprise accountability for strategic supplier performance, managed services delivery, commercial governance, and vendor relationships across McKesson Technology. Financial responsibility for vendor portfolios, operating plans, budgets, forecasts, investment decisions, and cost optimization initiatives. Leadership of complex enterprise transformation programs and governance initiatives spanning multiple business functions and geographies. Direct and indirect leadership across multiple teams, leaders, and disciplines with significant impact on operational performance, business outcomes, and customer experience. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred. 13+ years of progressive experience in IT Vendor Management, Commercial Management, Service Delivery, Procurement, Technology Operations, or related disciplines. 6+ years of experience leading managers and senior leaders within large, global, matrixed organizations. Proven experience designing, implementing, and maturing Vendor Management Office (VMO) governance models, operating frameworks, and supplier ecosystems. Deep expertise managing enterprise technology suppliers, managed services providers, commercial agreements, vendor negotiations, and strategic partnerships. Strong understanding of MSAs, SOWs, SLAs, contract governance, regulatory requirements, risk management frameworks, and compliance programs. Advanced financial management capabilities including budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, vendor financial analysis, ROI evaluation, and cost optimization. Demonstrated success leading enterprise transformation programs, service delivery organizations, and operational excellence initiatives. Preferred Experience & Capabilities Executive-level experience leading enterprise vendor strategies and large-scale managed services environments. Expertise in strategic supplier relationship management, governance frameworks, and vendor performance optimization. Proven ability to conduct invoice-to-contract reconciliations, rate card benchmarking, forensic financial reviews, and commercial risk assessments. Strong executive communication, stakeholder management, influence, and storytelling skills. Experience driving enterprise modernization, automation, cloud adoption, and operational transformation programs. Demonstrated ability to align technical service metrics and contractual obligations with measurable business outcomes. Proven track record delivering enterprise value through innovation, operational efficiency, speed-to-market improvements, and enhanced service quality.
