Portfolio Manager – Client Relationship Management Wealth Management | North York, Toronto (Hybrid – 4 days in-office)
About the Opportunity Our client is a well-established, independent wealth management firm with over 20 years in the industry and $1B+ in AUM, and they're growing. As part of a strategic transformation, they're looking for a Portfolio Manager who leads with relationships first. This is a high-visibility, client-facing role where you'll serve as the primary point of contact for a private clientele and play a direct role in the firm's continued expansion.
What You'll Do Build and manage trusted, long-term relationships with existing and prospective high-net-worth clients Assess each client's goals, risk tolerance, and constraints to develop tailored investment strategies Clearly articulate the firm's investment philosophy, sector views, and individual security thesis Lead client-facing conversations around value-added services including retirement, tax, and family financial planning Identify cross-sell, upsell, and new business development opportunities Oversee KYC and suitability obligations within a rigorous compliance culture Manage the day-to-day operations of a small client service team Monitor competitive activity and proactively respond to client retention risk
What You Bring Registered Advising Representative with a provincial Securities Commission — required Completion of the Canadian Securities Course — required CFA designation — strongly preferred CFP or equivalent financial planning credentials — asset 5+ years of experience in investment management, with at least 3 years in a client-facing capacity Strong understanding of capital markets, suitability determinations, and KYP requirements Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment while also being a genuine team player University degree
