About the Role

The Finance Manager leads strategic financial planning, reporting, and analysis to support executive decision-making and long-term value creation. You’ll champion modernization and transformation across our financial systems, processes, and controls — and provide leadership and mentorship to a talented finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Directs maintenance of fixed asset records and related depreciation accounts; provides interpretive guidance on the proper capitalization and recognition of expenditures, grouping of fixed assets by class, and depreciation methodology
  • Leads the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis process
  • Partners with operations teams to provide financial insight and analysis that supports business decision-making
  • Collaborates with management to develop schedules, procedures, and systems that enable the timely and informative accumulation, adjustment, and reporting of financial data
  • Develops, implements, and maintains operational accounting procedures and controls for production and inventory management
  • Coordinates, controls, audits, and reconciles annual physical inventories
  • In conjunction with other relevant personnel, develops Return on Investment (“ROI”), Internal Rate of Return (“IRR”), and payback analysis for capital projects and expansion programs
  • Assists with the preparation of detailed operating budgets, capital plans, and other forecasts
  • Accountable for administration of CRA remittances, including GST/HST, corporate income tax instalments, non-resident withholding, and related filings

Cost Accounting

  • Periodically reviews and adjusts various costing assumption schedules
  • Provides the senior management team with inventory, costing, and product profitability reports
  • Supervises the financial analysis of manufacturing operations, including preparation of manufacturing statements that identify variances incurred, reporting to management on the nature of variances and any appropriate corrective action
  • Tracks cost-saving initiatives for the manufacturing process and ensures they are appropriately maintained in the Cost Accounting system
  • Provides product line and customer profitability reporting, development of key operating metrics, and variance reporting and analysis
  • Determines cost of raw materials in calculating standards
  • Provides direction to departmental managers as required, and to operating and senior management, on matters involving cost determination — such as inventory valuation, distribution of overhead, and production performance reporting
