DIRECTOR, FUND TAXATION FULL-TIME – HYBRID (4-DAYS IN OFFICE) TORONTO (downtown)

We are partnering with a leading Canadian asset management firm find their Director, Fund Taxation to join their Toronto-based team. This is a senior leadership role for a fund tax expert who is ready to own the tax function end-to-end - from compliance and reporting through to regulatory relationships and team leadership.

The Job! Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Director, Fund Taxation will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Canadian investment fund taxation across a broad suite of mutual funds and ETFs. You will lead a team of tax professionals, manage key service provider relationships, and serve as the internal subject matter expert on fund tax matters. Responsibilities include:

Lead the end-to-end fund taxation function for a large Canadian mutual fund and ETF complex Oversee income allocation, taxable income calculations, and distribution processing for mutual fund trusts and corporations Manage preparation and review of T3, T5, NR4, and other regulatory tax filings Serve as primary point of contact for CRA audits, inquiries, and correspondence Manage and develop a team of fund tax professionals, providing coaching, oversight, and technical guidance Oversee relationships with fund tax service providers and administrators Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting Canadian investment fund taxation and advise senior leadership on implications Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Product, and Finance teams on fund launches, reorganizations, and new product structures Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the tax function

What you bring to the job

CPA designation required 8+ years of progressive experience in Canadian investment fund taxation Deep technical knowledge of mutual fund trust and ETF taxation, income allocation methodologies, and Canadian tax compliance Hands-on experience with T3, T5, and NR4 filings at scale Prior experience managing or mentoring a team Strong working knowledge of CRA regulatory requirements and audit processes Experience working with or at a Canadian asset manager, fund administrator, or Big 4 fund tax practice Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-tax stakeholders

Expected Compensation: up to CAD $140,000-180,000 per year. – Hours are 8-5 in office 4 days Existing Position Vacancy: Yes
