Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, location etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well. About the role We have an exciting opportunity to join our National Underwriting MGA, Risk-Can, as a Commercial Underwriter, specializing in Farm & Equine, on a permanent, full-time basis. If you have previous commercial underwriting experience and are looking to broaden your skills in a department which handles complex risks, this is the opportunity for you! This role offers a hybrid working model. What you'll do here: Issue, endorse, renew, or cancels policies following underwriting policies/procedures, applicable laws, and regulations subject to personal authority level. Retrieve information relevant to the underwriting function either by pulling files or checking policy history through appropriate channels. Work within established authority limits, structured parameters, rating matrices, and defined guidelines within the Underwriting Authority given under the various insurer contracts. Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously. Other tasks related to supporting our underwriting functions What you bring to the table: 2 – 3 years of Farm and or commercial P&C underwriting experience Excellent data entry and typing skills with the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes. Demonstrate strong attention to detail with the capability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Thrive working in a virtual Team using shared electronic mailboxes and files Highly organized to manage workload proficiently and can work in a face paced and changing environment Analytical and decision-making skills with attention to detail Positive team player while working independently High degree of professionalism and accountability Willing to obtain insurance license Excellent Knowledge of MS Office - Outlook, Word, Excel Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes Post Secondary Education preferred, but not required No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
