Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Medavie Blue Cross Insurance Division, the Vice President, Health and Dental Operations plays a critical senior leadership role accountable for the delivery, performance, and evolution of Health and Dental insurance operations across Canada. The VP serves as a key member of the Insurance Division leadership team, ensuring exceptional service delivery while advancing strategic priorities, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.

This role is responsible for leading large national teams across Member Contact Experience, New Business Implementation and Onboarding, Health and Dental Claims Management, Client Administration Solutions, Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, and AI-enabled service delivery. The VP will drive operational performance, elevate the client and member experience, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

The VP will build scalable operating models, strengthen performance through metrics and service standards, and leverage automation, digital enablement, and artificial intelligence to improve efficiency, enhance customer outcomes, and support long-term business success.

This opportunity is on-site, based in one of our office locations in Etobicoke, ON; Moncton, NB; or Dartmouth, NS.

Your responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Execution Provide senior leadership and oversight for Health and Dental insurance operations across Canada, ensuring strong operational performance, service delivery, and alignment to strategic business objectives. Lead the continued elevation of Member Contact Experience, New Business Implementation and Onboarding, Health and Dental Claims Management, Client Administration Solutions, Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Automation, and AI-enabled service delivery. Develop and implement operational plans, performance metrics, and service delivery models that support consistency, efficiency, accountability, and measurable business results. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce complexity, improve productivity, enhance service quality, optimize costs, and maintain strong risk and compliance practices. Ensure client commitments are met for plan members and sponsors by strengthening service standards, monitoring performance, and enhancing Operations’ value proposition in partnership with Business Development teams. Lead transformational change by implementing new approaches, technologies, operating models, and process improvements that support long-term business growth and operational excellence.

People Leadership & Capability Development Lead, coach, and develop a large, primarily remote and geographically dispersed national team within a client-centric culture. Develop people leaders and foster a coaching culture focused on accountability, consistency, capability development, and professional growth. Manage leadership talent pipelines and succession planning to support operational stability and future growth. Create a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence by leveraging client and member feedback, employee insights, emerging technologies, automation, and artificial intelligence.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Partnership Build strong partnerships across Medavie, Blue Cross organizations, technology, data, product, business development, and corporate functions to solve enterprise challenges and deliver integrated solutions. Work collaboratively across business units and functional areas to remove barriers, accelerate decision-making, and achieve shared organizational objectives. Use operational insights, performance data, industry trends, and stakeholder feedback to inform decisions, strengthen service delivery, and support business priorities. Communicate a clear operational vision and leadership philosophy while influencing outcomes through collaboration, partnership, and practical execution.

What You Bring A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field. 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience in insurance or a complex service-based industry, including large-scale operations, customer experience, and operational excellence. Executive-level operations management experience with a strong understanding of operational performance management, capacity planning, workforce optimization, and service delivery models. Demonstrated experience implementing automation, digital solutions, or AI-enabled capabilities to improve service delivery and operational performance. Strong knowledge of large and complex benefits and customer care programs, with a proven ability to assess and improve operational effectiveness. Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to use key performance metrics, industry data, and business insights to address client needs and operational priorities. A proven ability to balance operational execution with strategic thinking and long-term business objectives. A strong client service orientation and the ability to build trusted relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups. Demonstrated success building high-performing teams, leading transformational change, and earning respect through collaboration, practical problem-solving, and openness to input. Excellent communication, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to guide national teams through operational accountability and continued service excellence.

The Base Pay range may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training.
