Who we are: Manulife Wealth & Asset Management (“WAM”) is the global asset management arm of Manulife, providing comprehensive asset management solutions for investors. This investment expertise extends across a broad range of public and private asset classes, as well as asset allocation solutions. Our Private Markets segment has expertise in several private asset classes, including commercial real estate, timberland and farmland, biomass renewable energy and oil and gas. Private Markets also partners with Manulife’s specialized private asset investment teams to invest in private placement debt, commercial mortgages, private equity and mezzanine debt. Currently, there are several funds with external investors in Infrastructure, Real Estate, Commercial Mortgages, Private Debts, Timber, Agriculture and Natural Resources with an aggregate Assets Under Management (“AUM”) of over $20 billion. This AUM is expected to grow further over the next few years within both our existing products, the development and the launch of new products, several of which are in various stages of development. Job Requirements: The Senior Financial Analyst, Private Markets Financial Reporting & Advisory will be part of the Infrastructure Reporting and Accounting, Centre of Excellence (COE) team. The role of the WAM Private Markets Financing Reporting & Advisory team is to support the Private Markets products on all financial reporting aspects of the business. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting, the Senior Financial Analyst will be accountable for completing financial reporting and providing analytical support to produce financial reports and ongoing operations of the funds, with a primary focus on Infrastructure. This role will work closely with several teams throughout the organization to deliver timely results to Stakeholders. The Senior Financial Analyst role demands not only an in-depth accounting knowledge base, but also the ability to work independently and communicate effectively to various stakeholders while managing multiple priorities in line with the deliverable deadlines. Position Responsibilities: Prepare the quarterly and annual financial statements for multiple Infrastructure Funds including disclosures for compliance with IFRS and / or US GAAP frameworks. Review and ensuring accuracy as well as completeness of information provided by the third-party Fund administrator and various internal team. Assist in the preparation of the quarterly Board reporting package and provide supporting financial analysis as required. Develop entity level expense budgets and prepare cash flows models based on forecast. Analyze and develop forward looking analyses and projections as required by Director & Manager of Financial Reporting as well as Portfolio Management team. Understanding the complex structures and their expense management. Assist in the preparation of material of various committees. Analyze and monitor entity level expense budget to actual expenses. Manage the annual audit and work directly with external auditors for the infrastructure funds. Assist with providing select financial information for the annual tax filings and investor reports. Collaborate with various departments including Front Office, Fund Accounting, Capital Markets, Portfolio Managers, Legal, Tax, etc. Assist the team to ensure process and controls are in place to meet Tax, Regulatory and compliance requirements on an ongoing basis. Stay current on Accounting, Reporting, Legal and Regulatory developments impacting the Infrastructure and Private Markets businesses. Seek opportunities for process improvement, and design effective and efficient reporting processes and solutions where needed. Assist with ad-hoc projects and new initiatives within the department. Required Qualifications: University Degree in Accounting or Finance. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent accounting or finance professional credential with training completed with a Big 4 firm preferred. Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS financial reporting. Effective time management skills, with the ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize, work under tight timelines. Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with people at all levels and different functions throughout the organization and with external partners. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work with large cross functional teams and develop consensus with stakeholders. Ability to communicate complex concepts and results in a clear, concise and easy to understand manner. Well organized and with high level of energy and initiative to perform in a fast paced and challenging environment. Detailed oriented with a team first attitude, and ability to see the bigger picture. Ability to work independently and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Advanced level of proficiency in MS Excel and other MS office tools (e.g. Word and PowerPoint to develop reports, documents and presentations). Flexibility to work extra hours as needed while working under tight deadlines. Experience with Infrastructure mandate a strong plus. Referenced Salary Location Toronto, Ontario Working Arrangement Hybrid Salary range is expected to be between $73,725.00 CAD - $122,875.00 CAD Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
