The Senior Associate, Private Markets Operations (Data Operations) plays a key role in supporting IMCO's Private Markets Portfolio Monitoring platform and data governance framework, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of investment information relied upon by internal and external stakeholders. The Role is responsible for performing and managing day-to-day data operation activities, executing data quality controls, supporting new investment onboarding, and identifying opportunities for process enhancement and automation. Working closely with Investment Teams, Investment Operations, Finance, Performance, Risk, Technology teams, and external service providers, the Senior Associate will execute critical operational processes, investigate and resolve data-related issues, monitor service quality, and contribute to strategic initiatives that strengthen data governance and operational excellence. This role reports to the Manager, Private Markets Operations (Data Operations). As a Member of Our Team, You Will be Responsible For: Portfolio Monitoring and Investment Operation Support Perform the capture, validation, reconciliation, and maintenance of investment data, including net asset value, gross exposure, static data, and investment attributes on the portfolio monitoring platform. Ensure investment information is accurately reflected across enterprise systems and available to stakeholders including Investment Teams, Performance, Risk, Client Reporting, and Finance teams. Conduct control checks and reconciliations to maintain data integrity, identify exceptions, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Analyze investment information and underlying financial reports to support stakeholder inquiries and portfolio monitoring activities across private market asset classes. Coordinate and support new investment onboarding activities, ensuring investment and entity information is established accurately and consistently across multiple platforms and downstream systems. Act as a subject matter expert for private markets investment data and portfolio monitoring processes, providing guidance to stakeholders, supporting complex issue resolution, and contributing to the evolution of data governance standards and operational best practices. Data Governance and Operational Oversight Perform daily reconciliations and monitoring investment activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of investment data across systems. Establish and monitor data quality metrics, perform root cause analysis of data quality issues, and implement corrective actions to strengthen operational controls. Collaborate with internal business partners and external service providers to analyze system interfaces, investigate data and process issues, and coordinate timely resolution of identified gaps and exceptions. Support data reload activities and validate data processing results, ensuring issues are appropriately escalated, communicated, and resolved. Monitor KPIs and service level agreements (SLAs), escalating exceptions and partnering with vendors and stakeholders to improve service quality and data accuracy. Manage business intake requests and ad-hoc inquiries, working with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize activities, and deliver timely solutions. Process Improvement and Automation Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual processes through automation and process optimization. Leverage tools and technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, Power BI, SQL, Python, VBA, and other automation platforms to enhance data quality monitoring, reporting, and workflow efficiency. Support project initiatives, including requirement identification, user acceptance testing (UAT), process validation, implementation activities, and operational readiness assessments. Contribute to the design, enhancement, and testing of dashboards, reporting solutions, and business processes to improve user experience and operational effectiveness. Maintain and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and operational controls to reflect evolving business requirements, system enhancements, and process improvements. Participate in team meetings, knowledge-sharing activities, and continuous improvement initiatives that support operational excellence and team development. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of private market investment operations, data flows, system integrations, and industry best practices. What you need to succeed: Strong knowledge of private investments and portfolio monitoring applications combined with advanced analytical skills for interpreting financial reports and data is essential. Undergraduate degrees in Business, Finance or Technology are required. Master’s level education or relevant designations (CFA, CPA, FRM) are highly desirable. Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience with involvement in private investment operation or supporting investment teams with portfolio monitoring and data analytics. Proven ability to work independently, leveraging strong analytical, technical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to deliver effective outcomes in a fast-paced environment, manage tight deadlines, and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with colleagues in investment team, investment operations, middle office, project team, and other downstream stakeholders (Risk, Performance, Finance, etc....). Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders. Experience with one or multiple tools or systems such as Snowflake, Chronograph, and Dynamo. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Power Query, and Power BI; familiarity with relational databases and programming languages such as SQL, VBA, or Python is highly preferred. Knowledgeable in investment data management including Data Dictionary, Data Quality Improvement, Metadata Management, and Data Governance. Strong attention to detail and a strong aptitude for working with data-driven applications and portfolio monitoring tools. Demonstrated initiative and proactive approach to understanding, supporting, and implementing organizational goals and objectives. The base salary range for this position is CAD $90,000.00 - $120,000.00. The placement within the range is determined by the range of market pay for the specific position, as well as the candidate's knowledge, skillset and experience relative to the requirements of the position and to internal peers. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to participate in IMCO's annual incentive plan.
