Position Overview
Our Portfolio Management & Strategy department plays a central role in the firm's wealth management services. The team is responsible for overseeing Ventum's discretionary portfolio management platform, supervising portfolio managers, managing the in-house proprietary Separately Managed Account (SMA) strategies, overseeing external SMA mandates, and providing investment research and portfolio strategy support to advisors and clients throughout the firm.
Our internal discretionary portfolio platform currently manages a diverse suite of investment strategies, including Balanced, Dividend Growth, Canadian Large Cap Growth, U.S. Growth, and ETF portfolios. Ventum Financial offers a wide range of externally managed discretionary portfolios to choose from.
As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and intellectually curious investment professional to join our team. The highly motivated Associate, Portfolio Administration & Analysis will become an integral member of our Portfolio Management & Strategy team.
Working directly with the Managing Director and Lead Portfolio Manager, you will participate in virtually every aspect of the portfolio management process. Key Responsibilities
Supporting all aspects of the discretionary portfolio management process
Assisting with investment strategy development and portfolio construction
Conducting asset allocation and sector allocation research
Screening, analyzing and monitoring equity investment opportunities
Performing quantitative and fundamental investment analysis
Assisting with portfolio risk management and performance monitoring
Preparing economic, market, portfolio strategy and investment research reports
Supporting portfolio managers with client communications and investment presentations
Assisting in the ongoing management and oversight of Ventum's discretionary SMA platform
Providing analytical support to investment professionals throughout the firm
Who You Are
You are currently employed at a CIRO-regulated investment dealer, asset management firm, pension fund, or institutional investment organization and are looking for an opportunity to further your learning and where your work has direct impact.
You enjoy analyzing companies, markets, and investment strategies, possess strong financial and accounting knowledge, and are eager to broaden your portfolio management expertise. Qualifications & Experience
University degree in Finance, Economics, Quantitative Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline
Completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program
Minimum five years of experience in portfolio management, equity research, financial analysis, or investment management related field
Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis and company valuation
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling and macros
Excellent analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
Experience with LSEG Workspace (formerly Refinitiv), Dataphile, Bloomberg, Factset, is considered a significant asset
CIRO registration is preferred
