About Us Sousa is a growing transportation equipment company specializing in semi-trailer sales, rentals, leasing, parts, and service. With operations across Ontario and Atlantic Canada, we are committed to delivering exceptional service while supporting the transportation industry with reliable equipment solutions. As our company continues to expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team and help manage our financial operations, reporting, and growth initiatives.

Position Summary The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting strategic financial planning. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy and providing management with valuable insights to support business growth.

Responsibilities Financial Management •Maintain general ledger and financial records •Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements •Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and financing accounts •Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements •Assist with budgeting and forecasting

Accounts Receivable & Payable •Manage customer invoicing and collections •Process vendor invoices and payments •Review and monitor aging reports •Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies

Tax & Compliance •Prepare and file HST returns •Assist with year-end audits and external accountants •Ensure compliance with CRA regulations and accounting standards •Maintain organized financial documentation

Reporting & Analysis •Generate monthly management reports •Analyze profitability by department (Sales, Rentals, Leasing, Parts, Service) •Track key performance indicators and operating expenses •Provide recommendations for cost savings and process improvements

Payroll & Administration •Support payroll processing and employee expense reporting •Maintain employee records related to payroll and benefits •Assist management with financial planning and special projects

Qualifications •Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field •CPA designation (completed or in progress) considered an asset •3+ years of accounting experience preferred •Strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and tax regulations •Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software •Advanced Microsoft Excel skills •Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities •Excellent communication and organizational skills •Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Experience •Transportation, trucking, trailer, equipment rental, or fleet industry experience •Multi-location business accounting •Financing and lease accounting •Inventory and asset management accounting
