Position Overview
The Tax Manager, Financial Reporting & Tax will be responsible for managing a team to complete the tax work required for clients funds. Provides consultative tax expertise on issues raised on funds by internal partners. Develop and maintain strong relationships with client, external tax advisors, auditors and internal business partners. Review and evaluate work process and provide feedbacks.
Responsibilities
Manage distribution review process, including conduct distribution review, work collaboratively with internal partners on liaison with clients, external tax advisors and auditors; Manage the completion and fling of income and HST tax returns for trusts corporations and other investment fund structures, including reviewing tax returns and filing related tax information forms, elections, etc.; Review and approve tax analysis on complicated corporate actions within the agreed timeline; Provide recommendations on the distribution module, including tax developments and client requests and operational efficiency within the Tax group; Coordinate and manager the activities of their team to ensure that all deadlines are met; Attend client meetings and ensure delivery of quality services to all clients; Ensure appropriate timelines with clients and external auditors are negotiated; Research and respond to tax correspondence (including tax audits and reassessments) from clients, auditors and CRA ; Provide training/consultative support to Tax team and Fund Accounting group; Participate in presentations to potential clients and additional tax services to existing clients; Provide human resources leadership and manages all hiring and performance related activities in accordance with policies and procedures Research and apply regulatory changes for FS and tax reporting; and Participate in automation and special projects as required.
Qualifications
University degree in Accounting and a professional designation preferred Minimum of 3 years of Canadian tax experience; Tax and accounting experience in the investment fund industry is required; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Strong analytical and problem solving skills; Excellent time management skills and ability to work under tight timelines; and High degree of commitment to quality work and accuracy.

Job Specific Competencies
The salary band for this position ranges between $98,000 - $148,000. Individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, market conditions, relevant experience, education, training, and internal equity.
