Junior Property Accountant
About the role
DMS Management Solutions, Division of Tribe Management Inc., is currently seeking for a Property Accountant to join our accounting team in North York. The Property Accountant works under the direction of the Director, Corporate and Administration. This job description is not intended and should not be construed to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, or skills required or associated with the job. It is intended to provide a description of those principal job elements. All job descriptions are subject to change. Major Responsibilities: Prepare monthly financial statements ensuring that deadlines are met Full cycle accounting for a portfolio of Residential and Non-Profit properties, Preparation and analysis of multiple budgets with multiple year ends Identify and analyze budget variance Prepare journal entries for payroll transaction Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliation Prepare monthly bank reconciliation Analysis of A/R & A/P accounts and preparation of detailed account reconciliations Review cash position ensuring that cash infusion from clients would be necessary Prepare and reconcile CAM and Tax recoveries as per company standard Coordinate and participate in the preparation of annual operating budgets Prepare monthly HST tax remittance forms and other government remittances Assist the team on the transition works for new buildings Prepare year end audit working papers Undertakes ad hoc projects and other assignments within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as reasonable requested from time to time by management. To succeed in this role, the candidate must possess the following combination of education, experience and skills: 3+years’ experience in an accounting position preferably in the Property Management industry– Commercial and/or Residential experience is an asset – (Intermediate); Experience in Non-Profit Housing is a requirement Experience working with multiple budgets is a requirement CGA/CMA/CPA designation is an asset Detail oriented Effectiveness as a mature, tactful accountant with practical experience in the supervision of accounting staff; Energetic leadership. Enjoys leading by example. Using a “can-do” attitude that will positively influence, motivate and energize the team. Proven ability to identify, evaluate and develop new ideas with supportable results, Solid Analytical Strengths. Ability to apply logic and reasoning to effective manage projects, analyze complex financial, legal and contractual problems and to provide solutions or recommendations, Able to manage time effectively Experience in Yardi software is an asset Superior oral and written communication skills.
