About the role

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Further details regarding our total rewards program will be shared by the Talent Acquisition team during the hiring process. Canadian work experience is not a requirement for this role. Reporting to the Director of Finance, FP&A, the Senior Finance Manager will be a strategic finance partner for ESS Canada within the ESS NA portfolio of Compass Group Canada, providing senior leaders with clear financial insight, disciplined performance management and actionable recommendations to deliver sector objectives.

This role oversees weekly flash, monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, Joint Venture reporting, capital tracking, commercial analysis and a team of direct reports. Success requires strong business acumen, executive-ready communication, confident stakeholder management and the ability to balance competing priorities while protecting sector margins.

Now, If You Were To Come On Board As One Of Our Senior Finance Managers, We’d Ask You To Do The Following For Us

Lead weekly flash, variance analysis and executive commentary on financial performance, outlook, risks and opportunities. Deliver monthly reporting, sector packs and period-end presentations that clearly explain results by unit, business area and key financial driver. Oversee Joint Venture reporting, board meeting materials and financial analysis to support governance and senior leadership decisions. Partner with the sector President, operators and cross-functional leaders on ad-hoc analysis, business cases and decision support. Lead, coach and develop up to three direct reports, building capability in reporting, analysis and business partnering. Support budgeting and forecasting, including leadership presentations, scenario modelling and operator action plans to deliver results in line with targets. Identify and manage risks and opportunities, challenge the business where appropriate, and drive actions that protect margins and maximize profit flow-through. Oversee on- and off-balance-sheet items, reconciliations and financial exposures, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution. Partner with Foodbuy and rebate teams to understand rebate drivers, track opportunities and maximize rebate conversion and margin improvement. Build and review proformas, sensitivity analysis and commercial insights for renewals, rebids, negotiations and sector strategy. Manage capital request tracking, CAR submissions and financial discipline over approved capital budgets. Lead special projects, maintain clear project plans and drive accountability for timely, high-quality outcomes. Improve reporting, forecasting and analytical processes by simplifying workflows, strengthening controls and enhancing insight.

Results-driven finance leader with strong judgment, ownership and the ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. Strong commercial and analytical capability, with experience interpreting sales, margin, labour, cost and profitability drivers. Executive-ready communicator who can translate complex financial information into clear insights and recommendations. Credible business partner who manages stakeholders effectively, influences through insight and relationships, and prioritizes confidently when business needs conflict. 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 4 years in FP&A, commercial finance or business partnering. CPA designation or equivalent professional qualification required; MBA or CFA considered an asset. Advanced Excel, financial modelling and proforma skills; experience with JDE or another large ERP and reporting tools. Experience leading complex initiatives such as process improvement, system implementation, margin expansion, RFPs, rebids or contract renewals. Experience in food services, hospitality, retail, multi-unit operations or a related industry would be an asset.
