The Senior Vice President of Finance is a key member of the North Region leadership team, and a driver of growth. This position acts as a strategic partner to national, regional, and local operating unit leadership, and is sought out to assist with business performance management.

Core accountabilities are focused on client financial management and reporting, ongoing financial planning and analysis, regional corporate reporting, operational innovation, leading and implementing financial and operating initiatives, and ensuring desired business results are achieved. Key priorities include accelerating revenue and EBITDA growth, increasing operating efficiencies, and creating competitive advantage as it relates to our client service offerings.
Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties:

  • Demonstrates strong relationship building and communication skills establishing collaborative business partnerships at all levels.

  • Develop organizational structure for corporate reporting and Financial Planning & Analysis resources with clear roles and responsibilities.

  • Hands-on role in 5-year Plan development and tracking.

Client Financial Management and Reporting

  • Partner with industry leading client financial management team in Shared Services model, supporting through structure optimization, recruiting and developing talent, and motivating a large team.

  • Develop and manage a team of client focused Financial management team that fosters partnership with operational leaders and focuses on client financial health

  • Ensure proper controls, policies and procedures are developed and working effectively to mitigate financial and reputational risk.

  • Work closely with local market leadership and operational teams to ensure that operations and financial management are working most effectively together.

Corporate Financial Performance Management

  • Lead efficient and thoughtful annual operating plans, recurring financial forecasts, and multi-year long-range plans; execute these financial performance management processes in accordance with timelines developed by our national team.

  • Along with President of North region have end to end P&L ownership for the North Region business

  • Ensure risk based review of the business to minimize legal exposure

  • Work with Legal and business to manage ongoing lawsuits and regulatory items to ensure swift resolution

  • Annual strategic planning with market leaders and executive teams as well as frequent tracking and communicating of trends and financial opportunities with leadership for optimization throughout the year.

  • Provide thought leadership in cost reduction opportunities by researching and implementing emerging technologies and/or best practices connected to facilities, equipment, etc.

  • Provide latest data on client pricing and contract increases / decreases to better arm leadership with latest trends and data from across the region.

  • Ensure all client billing is in accordance with latest contracts and partner with leaders of Client Accounting to resolve issues.

  • Achieve our financial goals through effective business analysis, financial planning, cost management, and execution of earnings driven initiatives.

  • Provide leadership in the evaluation and integration of company acquisitions.

  • Influence business performance – both inform and drive decisions and initiatives, lead and influence change and adoption of change.

  • Provide forward looking business intelligence and “early warning” on challenges/ opportunities sufficient for senior management to affect results where appropriate.

  • Integrate the above activities into business operations to the point of making it a normal course of business activity.

  • Manage the capital budget, forecast and approval process.

  • Oversee client pricing analysis and contract administration.

Corporate Accounting and Reporting

  • Partner with Corporate shared services to maintain all aspects of regional corporate accounting and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

  • Direct and implement appropriate policies, systems and procedures for the Corporate Accounting department to ensure the company’s financial performance is reported accurately, timely and efficiently.

  • Supervise the administration of employee incentive programs, including leadership bonus plans, the region’s Equity Pool and various other commission and incentive plans.

Facilities & Corporate Offices

  • Manage all aspects of our corporate offices including lease renewals, related financial analysis, capacity planning and headcount projections, and geographic evaluation in NY.

  • Develop, justify and obtain approval for office/furniture/IT capital spending related to corporate facilities, and obtain spending approval in accordance with national guidelines.

  • Proactively work with our national office and broker partner Colliers to ensure smooth, efficient and well-planned execution of office related activities including lease negotiations and move planning.

  • Engage with senior leadership at the right time and place to ensure buy-in and support for office space changes and related people impacts.

Operational Innovation

  • Help develop and maintain a 3-5 year regional roadmap as it pertains to adoption of technologies and processes in support of efficiencies and long-term growth.

  • Provide leadership in the planning, testing and integration of platform systems impacting both corporate and client accounting

  • Work with local operating leaders to drive business improvement through new or enhanced technology/processes; influence stakeholders and teams to adopt change, including communication plans related to key initiatives.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of regional/local service needs and growth plans.

  • Identify and drive opportunities to unify our regional operating companies towards common shared solutions.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform any range of special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Up to ten direct reports in the above areas of responsibility.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business; MBA/CPA preferred

  • 15+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, operational finance, and accounting; a strong operational financial partner of large scale/regional operations preferred

  • Experienced with acquisition evaluations / due diligence, Pro formas, and integrations.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Travel to markets in the Region and corporate head office as required. Canada and USA.

  • This is a full time executive level position with typical scheduled hours, Monday through Friday. Consistent and regular attendance required. Hybrid work from home opportunity is available.
