Company Description Nugwa Consulting is an investment vehicle set up to acquire, take private, and operate publicly listed companies, especially in the metals and mining industry. Drawing on the experience of core team members, we intend to unlock value and grow the acquired company, with a significant increase in valuation before exit.
Role Description The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time hybrid role based in Vancouver or other key locations in Canada. The CFO will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and capital allocation for both advisory and commodities trading activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading financial planning and analysis, managing financial reporting and statutory compliance, reviewing financial statements, and ensuring robust internal controls and risk management frameworks. The CFO will collaborate closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives, support investment decision-making, and optimize financial performance across the business. This role also involves managing relationships with external stakeholders such as banks, investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies, while building and mentoring a high-performing finance team.
Qualifications Ability to lead and execute comprehensive financial planning and finance functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and capital management. Strong expertise in preparing, reviewing, and interpreting financial statements and financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders. Advanced analytical skills to evaluate investments, trading performance, and business risks, translating data into actionable insights. Extensive experience in corporate finance, preferably within commodities trading, investment advisory, or related sectors. Proven leadership experience in a senior finance role, with a track record of building and managing finance teams. Professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, CFA, or equivalent, and a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Strong knowledge of relevant accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment. Prior Finance Roles in the Metals and Mining Industry is required.
Note: The role is contingent on successful fundraising for the target gold mining company under study. We would expect successful applicants to continue at their current job until successful fundraising and acquisition of the company, estimated to be in the next 6-10 months.
