About the role

Portfolio Manager Toronto

We are retained by a growing, independent wealth management firm in Toronto to identify a client-focused Portfolio Manager for a key role on their advisory team. Our client is a boutique, conflict-free firm, not tied to a bank or proprietary products. Delivering integrated financial planning and portfolio management with the kind of personal attention only a boutique can offer.

About the Firm Independent and in an exciting growth phase, this firm is built on a client-first philosophy. Every team member has real ownership over their work and room to grow alongside the business. If you want to do meaningful work without the bureaucracy of a large institution, you'll feel at home here.

The Role As Portfolio Manager, you'll be the trusted point of contact for a book of clients across mass affluent, HNW, and UHNW households. You'll manage portfolios on a fully discretionary basis, partner with the CIO office on investment strategy, and own the client experience end-to-end. This role reports to the CIO — you are not expected to bring a book of business.

What You'll Do Build deep, trust-based client relationships across mass affluent, HNW, and UHNW households Manage portfolios on a fully discretionary basis using active and passive strategies Own onboarding end-to-end, from discovery through account setup and first-year review Deliver clear portfolio reviews and proactive communication through market cycles Collaborate with the planning team to integrate financial planning into portfolio decisions Contribute to investment committee discussions and model development Maintain meticulous records in line with OSC and firm compliance standards What You Bring 3–5 years of experience in portfolio management, investment counsel, or a senior client-facing wealth management role (required) Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Portfolio Manager with the OSC (required) CFA or CIM designation (required) Strong investment fundamentals across active and passive strategies Exceptional communication and empathy — you make complex ideas accessible and clients feel heard Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and detail-oriented Where You'll Work Liberty Village, Toronto (preference for two days in-office). Fully remote within Canada considered for the right candidate.

Growth Path A clear path to Senior Portfolio Manager and, ultimately, Partner. You'll have the mentorship, responsibility, and client exposure to get there.
