Job Title: Corporate Accounting Specialist (17 Month Term) Location: G3 Head Office (On-Site) Working under the direction of the Corporate Accounting Manager, the Corporate Accounting Specialist provides analysis on variance to budget and forecast for elevator/terminal industrial costs and volumes. This role facilitates analysis that identifies key drivers of results and provide insights into trends that directly impact operational results. This role is responsible for preparing management reporting for operational results based on various KPI’s and metrics, as well as performing month-end duties. This role also supports preparation of year-end financial statement disclosures and works closely with external auditors. The Accounting Specialist also assists in the development of process and system initiatives providing insight into the financial impacts and internal controls. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Monthly Reporting Prepares, analyzes and interprets monthly industrial operations results for elevator/terminals and prepares variance analysis of actual results compared to budget/forecast. Distributes detailed monthly reporting to all stakeholders and presents results to VP Operations and Regional Managers. Provides profit and loss variance analysis and volume reporting for elevators/terminals, identifying key performance drivers and trends that impact operational results. Prepares monthly journal entries and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for review across multiple cost centers and companies. Management Reporting Works closely with VP of Operations and Regional managers to understand business reporting needs. Leads the development and maintenance of the Operations dashboards that provide these stakeholders with visibility into key performance metrics. Prepares and maintains month-end reporting packages for executives and shareholders which requires strong business insight to confirm results are accurate on the income statement, balance sheet, and cashflow across all entities. Budgeting and Forecasting Participates in annual budgeting and monthly rolling forecasting processes, working with the business to ensure reporting is timely and accurate, while analyzing key drivers of business performance. Identifies opportunities to improve the forecasting of key cost drivers and recommends process enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy Other Leads the preparation of financial data used in G3 sustainability reporting including working with Director of Sustainability, Communications team, third party consultants and auditors to verify accuracy of data. Ad hoc payroll analysis for elevator/terminal staff as requested by the VP Human Resources and VP of Operations. Payroll review for industrial sites on a bi-weekly and weekly basis which requires review of supporting documentation and analysis for anomalies. Identifies areas for system optimization to gain efficiencies in the role and assists with implementing process improvements on a continual basis Performs other ad-hoc project related duties as assigned PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Highly detail oriented with effective communication and time management skills 3+ years’ experience in a financial analysis or equivalent role Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and CPA designated Strong SAP experience and general grain industry knowledge considered an asset Advanced excel and analytical reporting PowerBI experience considered an asset Ability to work independently and problem-solve in a confidential environment If you are looking for a flexible work-life balance, a competitive salary and benefits package and an opportunity to grow your career, G3 will give you this opportunity. At its dock, G3 Terminal Vancouver's three massive ship loaders are setting new standards for rapidly loading vessels up to Capesize. In Eastern Canada, our port facilities on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway System from Thunder Bay, ON to Quebec, QC provide access to destinations across the Atlantic. Farmers deliver direct to our port facilities in Hamilton, ON and Trois Rivieres, QC.
