About the role

Trafigura is seeking a driven and high-reaching Metals Operator to join our Refined Metals desk in Calgary. This is a customer-facing operations role at the heart of our physical metals trading business, responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of refined metals to Trafigura's customers across North America. You will work closely with traders, warehouse operators, logistics providers, and customers to coordinate the full delivery lifecycle — from trade execution through to final settlement. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional looking to build a career in commodities trading operations, with direct exposure to a fast-paced, high-accountability trading environment. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary operational point of contact for customers, maintaining relationships and ensuring a high standard of service throughout the delivery process Coordinate with traders and warehouse operators to plan and complete physical metal deliveries in line with contractual obligations Run scheduling, transportation, and logistics arrangements to ensure timely and accurate delivery of refined metal products Be responsible for documentation across the supply chain, including contracts, shipping documents, customs filings, and financial collateral Issue customer invoices and pricing declarations; arrange payments to suppliers in a timely manner Supervise and handle credit exposure and inventory positions at all stages of the supply chain Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Trafigura's in-house trading system Manage loss, quality, or delivery claims in coordination with relevant internal and external participants Arrange inspection, sampling, assaying, and umpire services as the need arises Candidate Profile We are looking for a hungry, motivated individual who is eager to learn and grow within the commodities industry. The ideal candidate does not need to have direct metal's experience — we welcome applicants from adjacent energy or commodities sectors, particularly those with a background in: Scheduling and logistics coordination Transportation or trucking operations Supply chain management in oil, gas, or other energy products What matters most is your drive, attention to detail, and ability to build strong working relationships in a demanding trading environment. Experience & Skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Customer-focused attitude with excellent communication and relationship management skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Proficiency in standard office and data management tools; experience with trading or CTRM systems is a plus Familiarity with documentation, invoicing, or customs processes is advantageous A collaborative teammate who is also capable of working independently At the heart of global supply, Trafigura connects vital resources to power and build the world.
