Position Details
We are currently looking for a Senior Manager to join our Corporate Tax team. This position will provide strategic tax advisory support across a broad range of investment fund initiatives and will play an important role on the corporate tax compliance team. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication capabilities, deep expertise in tax legislation, and strong tax research skills.
Responsibilities
Working closely with the Assistant Vice-President - Corporate Tax, this position will provide support on the following department engagements:
Investment Fund taxation: Provide tax advice on investment fund structuring, including the identification and analysis on potential alternatives in the design, creation, and alteration of investment fund offerings. Review the tax disclosures contained in various public offering documents of our investment funds. Perform analysis on the tax implications of various investment strategies. Review offering documents of potential fund investments, including limited partnership agreements, offering memorandums, private placement memorandums, term sheets, etc. and assist with side letter negotiations Corporate taxation: Review of tax provisions and ensure accurate and timely tax information is available for financial reporting. Review of tax returns and ensure accurate and timely filing of returns and payments. Research and analyze tax consequences of corporate activities, plans and strategies and identify effective tax alternatives. Other: Participate in various committees providing strategic tax input Monitor changes in tax legislation affecting our business in the investment fund industry Support competitive intelligence research Manage relationships with external advisors Requirements
5+ years of tax advisory experience. Expert knowledge of Canadian income tax. University degree in a business discipline and completion of a professional accounting designation. Completion of CPA In-Depth Tax Course. Experience with investment funds considered an asset, but not required.
The expected annual base salary range for this role is $105,000 - $140,000, which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
