About the role

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance.

This a 15 month fixed term opportunity.

Role Overview

The Lending & Portfolio Services Specialist supports commercial and consumer lending operations by managing the end-to-end servicing lifecycle. This includes verifying EFTs, wires, and transfers, processing property taxes, and supporting funding and payment activities. The role ensures accurate recordkeeping by maintaining digital loan files and uploading documentation, while coordinating closely with internal teams and external partners such as CMHC, servicers, insurers, and brokers. It also supports client and investor relationships through ongoing communication and issue resolution. A strong understanding of mortgage policies, company procedures, and the CMHC servicing framework is essential to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficient portfolio management.

Note: Candidates proficient in both French and English will be given priority.

About the day-to-day

  • Verify EFTs, transfers and wires via various banks, within authority level.
  • Process property taxes on a daily/weekly basis.
  • All aspects of daily, monthly and annual mortgage and consumer lending.
  • Funding, payment and processing support for commercial funding.
  • Maintain digital file records, and upload documents to portal libraries.
  • Liaise with various internal departments, as well as external; insurance consultants, CMHC, & servicer partners & mortgage brokers regarding ongoing payments.
  • Direct internal/external customer and investor relations and relationship management.
  • Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of the Mortgage policies and procedures on the Portal, company policies and procedures, and the CMHC servicing manual.

About the Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months’ work experience in an administrative setting.
  • Fluency in French and English preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar position within a mortgage or loan administration department would be an asset.
  • Good financial acumen with experience in a financial institution preferred.
  • Strong reconciliation skills.
  • Strong relationship building and customer service skills with excellent communication, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • A self-starter who can work independently or as part of a team.
  • Works well under pressure and with tight deadlines and is able to prioritize tasks in a changing environment.
  • Project exposure would be an asset.

About the work environment

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $55,000 and $65,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
